Does anyoneone else who threw the Megaton think..
« on: February 21, 2006, 03:30:44 PM »
I drilled the Megaton today and threw it in league.  The ball is a hook monster when it catches the dry.  This is not meant to be a review.  I threw out to the half board and the ball came roaring back to the pocket but:

The ball hits like a dud.  I don't necessarily mean this in a bad way.  The ball sent messangers drove back the 4-9 etc, but when the ball hit the pocket, it hit like a dud.  No crack of the ball hitting the pins, nothing.  It hit the pins like it was in the library.

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that?

Again, this is not a review nor meant to be a negative comment about the ball.  Its just quite.  Maybe a quite sleeper, I don't know yet.

Thanks Triggerman.  I thought it was me.  I'm going to work with the Megaton again today in practice.  The ball seemed to carry well and it had a great backend reaction, it just hit in silence/whisper mode.

I had the same experience with the tsunami. It carried ok, but did not hit like a buzzsaw.

I'm not a real big fan of the way my Tsunami hits, either.  However, it carries the corners as well as or better than anything else in the bag, so I think I'll keep it.

Hmmm I love the way my Tsunami carries everything but you are correct it does sound different...

Maybe I will just sell the 2 (Megatons) we have in our shop instead of punching one up...

If someone is willing to pay $265 + ship for that ball, I have some land to sell them real cheap in CA.. !! LOL..

I am sure some saw head will buy it, but thats out of my price range for any ball, period.. I can get 2 or 3 other NIB for that kind of cash..

Here you go. I've searched eBay for bidders on Megatons over $265.00
ejcuevas1 - 275/345
gravedigger234 - 275/285/340 wow
well cudarat bid was 260.00 - almost there!

I'm also a licensed Realtor in California (no kidding) so I can help you with selling your land in California. My license numbber is 01454730.

Anything to help a fellow sawhead.

Thats amazing!! Oh well, like I said, to each his own but no way I would pay that price for a bowling ball, reagrdless who makes it and how so called rare it is..

Oh yea, thanks for the info on the land in CA, but I will just keep it.. LOL..

they may be rare, but lane#1 shops pay the same for them as they do any other regular priced saw...  so if you can buy your alotted amount and more than double your money on them, just by listing them on eBay...  wth?  LOL

According to my proshop Lane#1 sold these balls to proshops @ $180 each. This price looks to me to be higher than that paid by shops for other Lane#1 equipment. The ball itself is supposedly more skid flip than anything else released by Lane#1 to date...

I was very lucky to buy my Megaton from Buddies Pro Shop for 195 dollars.  Still working with the ball, but I know I like it a lot better then the Enriched.  I'll continue to practice with the EU, but its still too unpredicable for me to use in league/tournaments.  I thought orginally the Megaton stepped on the Tsunami, but the more I throw the Megaton along side the Tsunami, the more I see the back end is considerably stronger then the Tsunami.
