Thanks to manu57 for the patent link!
I was looking at the patent info for the diamond core, and included in the ACTUAL patent is this quote:
"When the ball is released with the axis of the weight member in a predetermined orientation with respect to the bowler's track, as determined by the position of the grip hole(s) relative to the weight block, pin action is enhanced thereby producing consistently higher scores."
Wow...Sounds like a sales pitch is even included in the patent !
Great stuff !

wow, that just sold me...
I'm sure the brain trust over at Lane #1 squeezed extra hard to push that one out.

I got a couple Lane #1 balls in my line-up, so I didn't really want my post to come off as a diss, I was just amazed when I read that in the actual patent itself...you really gotta believe that your gear is superior to patent that !

Steven, yeah, look how fast these guy fly into the lane 1 forum. They're so easily distracted. I think they actually spend more time here than they do in their own/favorite ball forums. =:^D

Are those things written by a lawyer?
I didn't understand a single part of that. Seems like a lot of technical jargon to patent a "diamond" shaped core.
quote:
a single, elongated weight member integrally positioned within and entirely surrounded by said body, said weight member being substantially symmetrical about a central, linear axis and having first and second terminal ends, a maximum cross-section at an intermediate axial position between said first and second ends, a second homogenous density substantially greater than said first homogenous density and said predetermined homogenous density, an inward taper extending over at least a portion of its length from said intermediate axial position to each of said first and second ends, and a non-circular cross-section in all planes parallel to said linear axis.
Huh?
Can anybody see the images? I can't see them - trying to figure if it's a problem with my computer.

Some Patents are written by a Patent Attourney to word it properly. Sometimes not. It is not easy to get a Patent on something. The only thing I have found more difficult is a UL listing.
