Lane #1 replacing Morich @ our house
« on: February 18, 2009, 05:00:17 AM »
A little while ago, i decided to represent Lane #1 in Jackson, Ms... I found a BCB while on a bowling trip in Arkansas in 2007.  This was the 1st time that i heard of Lane #1 (only been bowling since Jan 07). The pro shop guy let me roll the BCB and i said wow, so, i bought my 1st saw, ahhhh.... now i own 40 .... anyways, my house @ the time was dominated by Morich (meaning all the great bowlers 200+ avg).  I honestly felt like Lane #1 was better, so i made a goal to make Lane #1 known and take over Morich. So, i bought more buzzsaws, bought the shirts, the 4 ball bag, 2 ball tote.  You'd be shocked how many people down here who did not have a clue of Lane #1.  After my 1st 300 (EU)some would ask what are you throwing and i'd say Lane #1 and they would say, who makes them, lol!  Then we won our league last year and i had the highest avg on our team, more people took noitce......After my pro shop guy started plugging and working on all my saws, he gained confidence in Lane 1 and now carries Lane #1 and now they are all over the place.... if you don't believe me ask chuck @ Lane 1 how many saws he sold to Bowler's Depot in Jackson, Ms in 2007 vs 2009... Also, thanks to Chuck, my pro shop guy thinks the world of you and will do anything you tell him, lol!  He's finally carrying Abralon Pads.... Also, Chuck you'd be pleased to know that my pro shop guy, used to be a Roto Grip man, Now he's rolling AO, BUZZBOMB! Sorry for long post, but mission accomplished.

Someone asked me one time "How do you eat an elephant"? The answer, One bite at a time.  There's no need to rush into all this expense just to say i pour my own.  If it's not broke, then don't fix it.  I'm quite sure that Richie would love to have the privilege of pouring his own stuff.  However, I'm quite sure that he has investigated the matter and weighed it in the balance and has come to the conclusion that right now isn't the proper time to jump into this endeavor.  However, if we continue to have stories, like the story i posted, then there would be enough $upply for such a facility.  Patience Danielson!

In Vegas there far more Lane 1 balls in leagues used than Morich, I am one of the few who own any Morich at all this way.

Storm and Rotogrip are huge followed by the Big E, once in awhile a Brunswick ball is on the rack usually an older one like one of the zones or inferno series.

Ok, who pours Lane #1's stuff? Global, correct? Global also pours their own stuff and AMF. Global and AMF stuff is significantly cheaper then Lane #1 stuff. Why is that?

To me its like a car, you have someone with a engine/transmission combo and has lets say Ford make the rest of the chassis, electrical etc., then sticks their powerplant in the chassis calls it their own, and then hypes living you know what out of it, its ridiculous to me.

NOR CAL, I can not speak for all manufacturer's, but I imagine it is similar to us. We sell for the same price no matter who buys it. Be it a distributorship, a OEM, US Government. In otherwords we will make our margins, period, then I am sure the company buying from us will also make whatever margin they need, hence the higher price two or three steps down the road.

You know what's funny is.... NO ONE in my house has ever asked me who pours Lane #1 balls, lol!  They just ask me where did you get all those buzzsaws  There are 2 guy throwing TSUNAMI'S one has like a 225 avg and the other 217 .... So others are trying to find the BALL, they can give a rip about who poured it.  If Lane #1, poured by whoever was crap, then i wouldn't be a supporter.  If they poured their own and it was crap i wouldn't own 'em.  The balls work for me and ALL who have made the transition @ my house, and that's all that matters

Well Frank, as a pro shop owner, here's what I do if I find a guy who is a good bowler and looking for a new ball. I'll ask what he's looking for and what he has in mind. If I come up with a ball that he is a little hesitant of I'll make him an offer...

"I'll tell you what...I am so confident this ball will work for you I'll get one in, drill it up for you and you throw it. If you like it you buy it. If you don't like it, give me $25 to cover my drill time and the inserts/ slug and I'll sell you the one you want at my cost."

Up to this point I have had exactly 1 bowler come back to me and not like his ball. This has allowed me to get various less-known equipment out there and seen by people.

I let the customer make the comparison...It works.......
