Pearl Stealth Bomber
« on: April 16, 2014, 01:32:46 PM »
I just got a deal on one of these that I couldn't pass on, so I pulled the trigger and had it punched up.

Very smooth and predictable. With variances in hand position I could play different parts of the lane with complete confidence. I'm finding the Lane#1 PSB to be more versatile than either of my pearl Storm IQs, which was surprising to me.

It's a shame Lane#1 has lost so much attention over the past few years. They're producing some good stuff that's fallen under the radar. I was a big Lane#1 guy for several years, but I've recently picked up a number of Motiv, Columbia, Track, Ebonite and Storm pieces I can use in PBA competition. No complaints with the other companies, it felt good to throw Lane#1 again. The PSB won't be the last Lane#1 ball I drill up.

I wanted to try the pearl DROID but I wanted it when it was new, not now...and I'm not paying such a high price..no offense. ..but if I wanted global covers I'd get em on close out or for their $99 seed ball specials....cuz that network looks good!

I drilled a PSB a couple of weeks ago and agree with you 100 percent. It is clean through the heads and strong and predictable on the back. I get a very similar roll from the PSB on Wood and synthetics.

I have an IQ fusion that I will drill in the next week. Can you give me more input on how the PSB compares to the IQs.

In many ways it's an apples-to-oranges comparison between the IQ Fusion and the PSB.

The Fusion is symmetric, where the PSB is asymmetric. The NIB Fusion cover is 1500 highly polished vs the 4000 duller finish on the PSB. Of course, the covers can be tweaked, but I haven't altered either of them yet.

The one similarity I have between the PSB and the Fusion is the drill -- pin below the ring finger, no hole.

In the nutshell. the Fusion is more skid/flip. It jumps off the friction harder than the PSB. I find it really fun to throw on a fresher blended THS where I can control the backend. But when the lanes transition to an ugly wet/dry, the Fusion can bounce too much off the burn. I don't trust it in my second shift league where control is more important than creating area. If I were to knock the polish off, things might be different, but at this point I don't want to change it.

The IQ Tour Pearl (IQTP) is pretty much what Storm advertises -- a weaker version of the Fusion. They compliment each other well.

Enjoy your Fusion. You shouldn't see too much overlap with your PSB.
