OK -- I understand now.
What you're alluding to is the relatively dull box cover of the Solid Uranium (SU). Personally, I was surprised at how dull it was out of the box. After drilling it up, I threw a few practice games in box condition, and quickly determined it was too dull for 95% of what I see.
At that point, I hit the SU (on the spinner) with Ebonite Matte Finish Polish, and finished it off with NeoTac Liquid Sandpaper (by hand) to take off just a hair of the shine. In this state, it can handle just about anything but an absolute flood.
If you want to keep the ball in as close to box as possible, I'd suggest after use cleaning with NeoTac Liquid Sandpaper or Khameleon Particle Sand High Tech Ball Restorer. This will keep the 'shine' from quickly building up on the cover. Additionally, I'd occasionally hit the cover with either the scotch-brite green pad (600 grit), or the grey pad (800 grit) for more extensive restoration.
If you want to keep it dull and performing, you really have to perform the above.
