Some Stuff on the New Ball and Company Move
« on: September 08, 2006, 01:30:46 PM »
I spoke with Chuck on Wednesday, and we talked about the switch and new ball.  Not sure if this has been said, but the ENTIRE Lane 1 company is excited of the possibilities. Columbia offered Richie free reign in that he can experiment with new stuff of his own ideas.  This means that with Richie's knowledge, along with the ideas of his staff, that he could create his own cover mixes.  This has the family at Lane 1 all buzzing, and that is no pun.

As for the new ball, all Chuck could say is that EVERYONE has been excited about this ball just from the reports on what it is "expected" to do.  All this excitement over a ball well before it has been poured or tested.  This may not seem like much, BUT he said that he has NEVER been this excited about a ball so early before its production or testing.

From my discussion with Chuck, this ball will blow even loyal Lane 1 users off the lane.  His excitement has stirred me, and I am anticipating this ball more than any other, and it is sure to have a place in my bag.

SM - Glad to hear the transition is going to be a smooth one.  I must say though that NO company guy for ANY ball company is going to say, "Well.....this next ball coming out is going to be pretty lame/boring."  Of course any rep/company guy is going to "talk it up."  Hope it works out for both LAne#1 and it's loyal followers.

Well, Balls being tested is one thing, but balls being used in the real world is another, lets face it, they are not going to come out and tell you i hope the 1st one will be alright.

Right now my excitement level is not there, and i kind of find it strange that ritchie has a free reign with columbia and moe pinel did not....that is why he left and went to brunswick, so we will have to wait and see if it is worth all the hype.

What you fail to realize is that I know this rep, and he has never been this excited ever, much less this early.  Mock if you will, but the results will be the proof.

It is my understanding that the entire ball will be different from anything used on a Lane 1 ball before...

new color
new core design
new coverstock formulation
new reaction

From what I have been told I am excited as well!!!

Letting Richie and the Lane#1 staff time to develop there own combinations... WOW only good things will come from it....

Why do people keep trying to compare Lane #1 to other equipment.....when there really is no comparison

Best Prices in all of Colorado on Lane #1 equipment....

How can you be THAT excited about a product before you throw it or even seen it thrown?

Don't you remember the hype surrounding the EPX?
Now, I am NOT saying this ball will be that way at all, but no ball could have met that expectation.

quote:

What if the "theoretically" great ball turns out to be a dud on real lanes once it's manufactured? Bottom line is, Lane #1 has a pretty complete reaction set in their current lineup. They have big hook balls that snap and arc, medium hook balls that snap and arc, small hook ball that can snap OR arc, plastic with a core, and clear plastic gimmick ball. No matter what, the only thing this ball can do is a reaction something else already does, just better.

Between all the Activators, PK 18, PK 17 coverstocks, I'm not sure what COlumbia can offer Lane#1 besides new colors and lower price??

Hey, that's a novelty, a lower price!

quote:

Methinks this is just the Lane #1 hype machine going into high gear, astroturf-style, to keep the Brunswick fans on board. Lane #1 puts out good stuff no doubt, but this will be "just another $250 ball".

Maybe, maybe not.

That is why I will wait and read the reviews first before I buy a ball that cracks or came from a bad batch. I don't trust columbia.

Fat chance of that happening! Somehow I don't think cheaper prices for the consumer was factored into the equation!

Well.....'cheaper' is not a Lane1 catch phrase. lol.
Of course, they've only sold high-end balls so the pricing has
been reasonable for those types of balls.
Me? I'd like to see them offer a mid-priced line. Ummm...even if
they may be made by Col-slum-bia 300. I'd be willing to bet they could
double their business with a mid-line. DO IT!! lol

I can't say that I am as excited as I am curious.
I will be in line to buy the first new ball. However, I am not expecting it to work any kind of magic. I am simply expecting another good Lane #1 ball. I have collected quite a few Buzzsaws now, and I am happy with each and every one of them. None of them work all of the time, but I have been able to pick one up for every lane condition I have run across. I EXPECT nothing less from the new equipment. I am a loyal Lane #1 user, but I also realize the bowler is a bigger part of the equation than the ball.

To me it means a wait and see.All ball companies put out new balls with new coverstock or weightblock etc. What some of you don't realize that by changling chemical stucture and density of what they use to create these bowling balls that are coming out.It is basically remodel a product to enchance or better the product to do better.I am not bashing any companies. If they can create a new coverstock and cores without outside help then I wish Lane 1 best of luck on going forward for what they are doing. We all see in the past that there were good balls made and not too good ones also.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.
