lane 1
« on: February 28, 2004, 06:30:45 AM »
this is not another bashing post since i know it would get no replies. everyone is so sick of it including myself lol. but i would like to know, how did such a large congregation of lane 1 fans all come together on one website? i have only seen one buzzsaw in my area. is it just that the people who support them speak louder? i dont think this is the case since it seems like a different person is posting about lane 1 every time i look.

The house i bowl at a lot of people and i mean a lot of people use buzzsaws, because we have a lane #1 rep that bowls in the adult leagues at my home house.
His name is Tim Wildurmuth or something like that, some of you people might know him or not oh well.

A person in one of my leagues had 2 Buzzsaws and it seemed when they hit, they HIT. Maybe no harder than any other ball, but the sound of the hit was second to none. I then talked to Doug Sterner seeking some advice on some drillings on balls and got to talking to him about the Buzzsaws. I then found that I could get a Buzzsaw, get it drilled and delivered to my door step in OK for less than I could get premimum balls at the local Pro Shops, so I tried one. It fit my style better than anything I had in my bag and it worked so well for me that I "got hooked on Buzzsaws right there and then." I now own 4 of them and am satisfied with all four. I'll admit they don't work that well for some people, but they work for me.

To answer the original question, Lane 1 sponsored this site in its early years.  I got a Lane 1, shot a couple of honor scores with them.  Everyone jumped on the Lane 1 bandwagon after that.  If I could shoot honors, just imagine what a good bowler could do with them.

Tim Wildermuth is responsible for more scoring than Madonna and Heidi Fleiss combined.  Each quarter, Lane #1 sends out a pamphlet with upcoming data, ball performance, etc.  Also, buried in of the corners of this little newsletter, is some sort of update on how this dude is scoring.  I'm not exaggerating when I say that he may have 20 800's the past 18 months and 30-35 298+ games.  Nizzo, correct me if I'm wrong.

I started using Lane 1 back when the Black Buzzsaw came out.  I bowled in college, and I recieved a good deal on a couple of them from the local pro shop.  I have been a user ever since.  10 years and going strong.  I guess I am guilty of my devotion.  I stay with Lane 1 because they have good customer service.  I can call Syracuse and recieve help from Richie, Chuck, Mark, and Anthony. If I have had a problem, they have alsways gone out of their way to assist.

Even though many bash Lane 1 for having the same basic cores and covers, I have found a variety of rections. I get that elusive skid/snap in the Pink Raspberry. I have found the predictable early and even roll in the Pro Purple.  My rev leverage LRG is great when I can find enough oil. The Uranium hits better than all of them. It has a great cover and it hits like nothing I have ever thrown.  I feel that I can cover most any condition with their equipment. I just have to tweak the surfaces and watch how they are drilled.

Yeah Tim is a great bowler, but lately he has not been doing too good, but overall not too bad. Nice person to talk to also.

I know this doesn't anwser your question, because I have no anwser to to that.... When I first started a league, IceEMQuick, myself, and my father where the only people throwing Lane 1. Niether of us are great bowlers, my father averages 198 though, IceEmQuick and I often switch averages on a weekly basis aroudn 186 or so.

My father is "not" a 198 bowler though, he just carries the world. Tugs his balls, they sit in oil, carries extermely light hits, nailed a game with 7 brooklynns in a row. People always ask him how he does it, or what kinda ball that is. My father goes into his Lane 1 spceil. Believe he, when I was a kid, I used to watch him have the same majic with a black hammer. It has nothing to do with the balls.

Well slowly but surely, we have begun to notice an increase in the number of lane 1 balls being thrown. It is a snowball effect and seems to be reaching critical mass. Tuesday night, there was a gentleman bowling a Golden Nugget on the left, and 2 more Golden Nuggets on the next 3 pair of lane to our right. I have also see a couple silver diamonds (these are the 2 balls my father throws, lol).

Wallking up and down the league area, a sprinking of Cherry Bombs and such are now visible. Everybody has pretty much had great luck with the balls so far.

230,

Yes, Tim is a great person on and off the lanes.  I could have had the opportunity to be his doubles partner in the Lilac tournament in Rochester this year but something came up and I can't make it.  That's too bad because that would have been a great bowling experience and a good time on the lanes.  I think Chuck from Lane1 was going to bowl with us in the team event.  Oh well, maybe next year.

As far as his talent, besides the incredibly high amount of 300s and 800s he has, he had an 890 last year in a tournament.  Started with a 7 pin, spare, then threw the next 35 strikes!  Yowza!

Take care....JS
