Particles require a little more oil up front and out back to be effective, I would use it on a condition where the back ends are soft and not flying

My polished blueberry was out hooking my carbide with box finish..its drilled exactly the same....i polished up the the carbide and it hooked even less, even on drier conditions.I know these balls need some oil but i didn't like the reaction.
I then took it back down with a 500 pad, then used a 2000 pad for a few seconds...now it hooks like mad....the shot i used it on was a house shot, second shift....
I have the balled drilled pin under, cg 2.5 inches from the center line...
My tsunami was the same-needed to take off the box finish then buff it up before it gave me a nice back end....
hope this helps...

If you want earlier roll and lane read, with increased hook, 1000 is too fine a grit.  I was confused as to your wanting more hook, but going to try taking the surface grit up, when down is what you need to do.

my favorite oil ball would only hook 5 boards at the most even on drier conditions but was the only one that would carry in the oil. and side rotation is a killer on oil.
