i had a sptfire with a short pin so i drilled it with the cg in the middle finger, and cg below bridge
-
Another option is pin over bridge and cg in the palm area....length with a smooth transition and backend reaction.

for me at least lable drillings tend to read the lanes a little eariler. I would agree with doug pin over the bridge Cg somewhere in or near the palm area.

I like to put a layout I started using on short pins in them. Put the pin 5" away from PAP above the fingers with the cg directly horizontal to the pin and put my extra hole 6 3/4" from center of grip on a 45* angle towards the possitive finger quadrant and try to end with equal parts side and finger weights.
It's a very unique and solid reaction.
Beans
Added: I always use 2.5" deep weight holes with this layout

What does that really mean..? You want good length, but what do you want the ball to do after that..? And, on what condition..? I can give you a layout that will give you good length, and keep going straight if you want. We need more info please. =:^D

I agree, it depends on what you want the ball to do after the "good length".

he wants it to NOT FLIP! I know that. LOL. I was thinkin bout the label drill on the c2 drill sheets with the pin above the middle and cg under the ring

If that is what he wants Buzzhead. Tell him to put the pin on the axis point or 1" up the VAL from his PAP.
There is argument whether this makes the ball roll sooner or actually go longer. It depends on how you look at it.

Beans he has tried this with THE ths he has mentioned this was the first drill he put on it.....
length length........CRAZY backend from what he said. I would think he hit the perfect storm....no core wobble and stored all the energy for the BP, and when it did........... WOW.
I am at a loss to tell him to drill anything like over here.....
He normally sees 37 feet of oil, FRESH. Squeaky clean backends and not much else. This is why he likes the chainsaw so much.
Ps I also think that he style of bowling hurts his chances of finding a ball to not snap...
Lofter, bigtime....... and I know that loft with a decent amount of revs creates BACKEND SNAP, at least in my experiences.....(I used to loft easily to the arrows....)

I have a Teal THS drilled pin axis as Beans suggests...I have got to tell you this ball will not turn the corner if you kick it. The ball is ridiculously calm and even reacting.
However this drilling comes with a price.....it is very unforgiving and condition specific. Leak the ball a board wide and if that board is not dry, the 2-8-10 will become your friend. Throw it a touch hard and your ball will say hello to the 6 pin.
It seems that since our lanes have been refinished they are hooking a lot more than they did at the end of the season. My pin over middle finger Psycho is almost too much ball so maybe I'll pull my Teal back out and play some more.

A couple of choices I would go with are pin axis and pin near the track. Flare needs to be cut to a minimum.
First, with the pin axis, use a ball with a 0" pin if you can find it. This will give you the most control. Place the weight hole roughly 10" from the center of your grip, through the pin, extending out down on the bottom of the ball. Leave 3/4 to 7/8 side in the ball for maximum length.
The other way to go is place the pin 6" from your PAP. A pin out ball can be used with this one. Place the pin over your middle finger or in the middle finger and kick the CG out. Again, end with 3/4 side and low top (1/4 oz). This layout works better when the heads are dry.
If these don't work, because they are specialty layouts, then a stronger layout will work with a weaker coverstock. The Chainsaw is the ball of choice here as is the Starburst XXXL. Good luck with conquering your center. =:^D
