Isn't the lightest ball with a "real core" a 12lb ball? if this is the case, what's the max amout of weight a ball can be reduced to after drilling and weight hole ? Trying to get my girlfriend a ball with a real core, but she can't throw one that's too heavy. Thanks

It is my understanding that Lane #1 is one of the few companies that use "real core" even in the 12 lb ball. Most companies use a different core below 14lbs.
If you purchase a high end ball below 14 lbs from them you get a pancake weight block and are paying for the cover only.
Drilling will only take out 3 or 4 oz's weight out of a ball, for a person with small span. The weight hole depends on the size of bit used on how many oz's it will remove. I don't think a driller would see any reason to put a weight hole in a 12 lb ball, IMO.

botelerc, unless your girlfriend has some physical problems(not inferring she does) I would venture to say she should not have a problem handling a properly fitting 12 lb ball. When my daughter was 12 or 13 she was using a 12 lb ball & she is very petite. From the time she was 16 & on, she has been throwing 15 pounders & she was only about 5' & weighed about 100lbs. In my opinion 12lbs should not be a problem.
