EXPENSIVE BALLS ???
« on: August 06, 2005, 09:43:28 PM »
Hi there, you guys across the Atlantic in the U.S. of A, who think you pay high dollar for your hardhittin Lane #1 balls that you love so much.

I live in Stockholm, Sweden and over here a Lane #1 ball in a reputable proshop is around $380.00 (all inclusive), but anyway.........?

Later when you take you brand new ball down to the bowlingcenter they charge you about $4.00-6.00 per game, and the story goes on with your shoes, shirts, accessories etc. etc.

I just want to put you in prospective how we European bowlers are treated.....

I agree with you Jones. I also live in sweden, in Kiruna, and the ball cost twise as much here as they do in the USA.
But I pay only $1.6, or $1.3 in the summer for open bowling.

Hi Azus, That's a really good deal you have up there in the nortern part of Sweden, but in bigger cities the prices are a bit higher, naturally. I bowled in Åmål last summer and there price per game was $ 2.64, that's my all time low, soo far.....!

Are you a adult? Then maybe it cost more for you than me. It cost $2.93 for adults to bowl here.

No, I haven't imported any balls yet, but i have checked the prices and have had plans of doing it but in the long run the costs for shipping (USD 65.00) V.A.T. plus Taxes (+ 30%) and drilling ($66.00 at Peter Sainio's PS Bowling in Sundbyberg). You only save a minimal amount of cash. If you can get a ball really cheap it's maybe worth it.

I have bought 5 balls in the last 18 mounths from Peter Sainio(4 Lane #1 & 1 Storm), so now i usually get a very good discount and exellent service aswell.

Don´t forget that you don't get any warranty in Sweden on ball purchased from abroad.

All the best
Claes

I know, I have also checked how much it cost from the states. It´s the taxes thats make it so expensive.

Joseph, $300 is about what I buy my balls for from my proshop. So I don´t earn anything on that deal.

josephsouthland:
And you had the nads to accuse someone of ripping people off over a $200 discontinued ball here! Tsk, Tsk!  Here are your words from only a few days ago:

"I just don't want my fellow members getting ripped off either...they want to call me on it, I'll respond back if I feel I have some valid points. I made 1 comment, but they want to take shots at me, well then I'll have some fun. If I know a price is cheaper then someone is asking I'll direct them in that way. I don't like the fact that every time I see a price I have to do some research and see if I'm getting ripped off."

Are they only "fellow members" if they reside Stateside? It would appear to me that you are trying to take advantage of our overseas friends. You also say that you would direct people to the cheaper price. Did you forget to do the research this time? www.bowlanza.com has most of the hot current balls available for $175. Add to this the $65 our friends estimated for shipping, and you have $240 (shipped). What are you going to do with the $60 you make on each one of these noble efforts? If you truly want to help serve your fellow members, maybe you should consult your mom before making rediculous statements.

why buy it from these proshops ??

order straight from lane1 .. if you order 4 balls, the price for each ball including everything will be around $220 for you .. it will depends on your custom tax and the shipping to sweden

for me, I usually make 6-8 balls order ( for me and others ) .. and the final price after everything is about 150 pounds per ball

GTX. The taxes from U.S to Sweden is about 30%. But that´s a very good idea.
Is it just to contact a ball company and ask if you could order some balls from them?
PM with the details plz.
