Drilled and threw the G-Force
« on: February 12, 2007, 09:31:12 AM »
I got a G-Force with great specs and drilled it to the specs Doug Sterner sent me.

I not great at writing reviews so this is what it is:

I threw the morning league this morning with the Solid Uranium drilled 3 3/8 stacked.  The ball was going so long that I left three washouts.  I hadn't thrown the G-Force at all yet so I throw it at the washouts and it recovers and goes to the Brooklyn side in hoipes to kick the 10 but I was standing and throwing the same line as the Solid Uranium.  The oin was about 1 1/2 inches above the ring finger and the MB about 1 inch right of the thumb.

Since I couldn't get a read with the Solid Uranium, I moved 5 boards left with my feet two with my target and the G-Force just came back and killed the pocket.  When I threw the G-Force the recovery was so great that several bowlers raised their eyebrows.

Its a six game set, bowl three games move and bowl three more.  The next set I went to there was even more oil, so I thought.  I moved right and got to the pocket well but did not carry the 10, changed back to the Solid Uranium and I was kicking the 10 pin again.

First time out with the G-Force and I liked the reaction.  I am trying to order another one to drill stronger to read the lane earlier.

Thanks for the mention Nic...mine is drilled label as per the Lane 1 drill hseet with one difference. I had been having problems with the hit and carry not being what most Lane 1 balls were. After talking to the guys at Lane 1 we agreed that the lack of top and side weight were causing my problem. So we added a weighthole on my midline 10-1/8" left of grip center. 25/32 hole drilled 2-1/2" deep gave me 3/8 side and 5/8 top weight.

After doing this the ball came alive. It was too much ball for my house shot or our sport league. I took the surface to 4000 grit Abralon. The ball didn't read early enough on the SPORT pattern but was too much for my house league. SO I added some Magic Shine and it was way too skaty. I then hit it with a 2000 grit pad and it was awesome.

The ball responds VERY well to surface changes and works great on a variety of conditions.

Keep us posted Nic!!!

I threw mine today for the first time. (Actually, I threw two practice balls with it prior to a tourney on Saturday, but it was WAY too much ball for that condition).

Like Doug, I drilled mine Label 1:30. The pin is to the right and slighty above the finger line (which puts it 3.5 inches from my PAP). The MB is in my track (about 1" left of the thumb). This left me with +3/4 side weight and +3/4 finger weight. Ball is in OOB surface condition.

Tonight, we bowled on the SHARK pattern in our PBA experience league. After a few errant practice balls, I lined up with a small swing across 13 at the arrows to a breakpoint of 10. I had a Solid Uranium and Carbide+ with me as well. The Soild Uranium tried like hell to make it back when thrown on the same line, but just touched the head pin. The Carbide+ was not so fortunate. Washout city. The G-Force is definitely strong. This drill flared nicely, reading the pattern before hitting the clean backends and finishing strong. Carry was good as long as I did not get fast. When I did, I left ten pins. Not the ball...I did. I shot 191, 196, 211 for a 598. I was happy with this since I am currently at a 178 average in this league. I summary, I am very happy with the ball, and I am also happy I stuck to my guns and put the label drill on it.
