XXXL questions
« on: September 17, 2009, 08:01:57 AM »
hi
am thinking of getting a xxxl for burnt out lanes

kinda curious that if this ball has got to be mapped like any other reactive with cg and pin or just the usual way of mapping the ball on polyetser with the cg at the center of grip (hope u guys know what i mean)

thanks

Kinda sorta.  It is a plastic ball.  Only difference is that it has a full core inside instead of a pancake flip block.  So it will still go straighter than any other reactive, but hook more than a plastic.

Negative weights will make the ball go straighter, as will pin axis like any other drill.  You can maximize the reaction from the ball by it's drill like any other ball as well because it has a full size core.  The outer cover is the polyurethane which will make it go straight by nature, but the core will give it more turn down the lane than a regular plastic.

Hope that wasn't too confusing and helped some.

Just tell the guy at the shop to lay it out reasonably strong.  The core is a diamond, but takes well to conventional two piece construction drillings.

The drilling isn't determined by the coverstock, but by the cores orientation inside the ball. Drilling it "like any reactive ball" doesn't actually mean anything because their is no reactive ball drilling.

Most of the ones I have punched up for people or have seen drilled are CG out and the ball is a monster.

Like said above, drill CG out or stacked.  Maximize it's potential.

My black XXXL was drilled Label 1:30.
It worked well playing straight up the outside (up the 5 board) on cooked lanes.

I now use a Starburst XXXL with a Rico layout. My local house has a wet/dry THS. This ball is usable on that shot right out of the gate. I cannot go coast to coast with it, but a small swing from 13 to 8 works nicely as long as you keep your speed in check.

Even drilled RICO it reacts like that?  Wow!  Gotta love the XXXL!  That's why it's the best!
