mini review, Big Curve
« on: March 16, 2010, 12:38:25 AM »
just a brief review of the Big Curve, first, it holds true to its name, its moves and moves a lot, compared to a similarly drilled curve, the Big Curve is about 5-8 boards stronger in the oil, its a nice heavy rolling peice that just cuts thru the soup like a studded tire thru ice.  the THS at the alley is a variation of the winding road (i think thats what they lane mane told me) with the heads juiced up a bit, outside of 5 at the break and nothing is coming back,  but for comparison i threw my curve to the 4 board it faced the 6 pin, i then thru the big curve to the same spot and it was just shy of being flush.  for an oiler it gets good length but has that heavy roll of an oil ball, nice midlane move with a very strong continuation on the back and not a hint of burn up

polished this would make one fine med heavy type ball

cosmetically this ball turns heads, I had 7-10 people behind me from the league that had just started first looking at the ball commenting both good and bad on its looks, but once it went down lane and sent that first messenger across it became "what is that" and "when does it come out"  when it comes down to it, performance speaks

another fantastic ball in line with the red death, handles the mids great and just destroys the backend

cant wait for league so i can run it thru all its paces

Hey Tizz, does this ball have any "particle" in it like the CURVE does?

no its a solid reactive coverstock, similar to the red death but tweaked for added strength

I ended up putting a balance hole in the p3 quad and got the chance to throw this again last night for 3 games
wow did the addition make a big difference, couple of feet more down lane, more on the back side

our GM is a long time bowling guy, knows lots of people in the industry, and he was down watching as I threw and after the front 5 he told me he had never seen a ball hit as hard as that one did very explosive in the hole blow all ten back sort of shot, no mixers just flat out all back type shot, pins high, pins low they were all over

Trigg I plan on picking one up, but I think I would need to apply some polish to that beast. We do not see alot of oil down here. What layout would you recomend knowing I wanted to use polish, I will ask Buzz as well.

what type of bowler are you?

I really like a 70-4-5.5" x 35 layout for getting a ball down lane and keeping some energy for the backend

but to answer you fairly i need more info

Ball speed 16-17mph 400-500 rev (no Thumb) PAP 5.25 up .25.
I did talk to chuck and this is what he recomended.
60 x 30 pin 5" to PAP. Prep cover - Don't shine to much start at 4000 w/a touch of polish 4 minutes.

Can anyone please give a comparison between. the Big Curve, and the Red Death and or Agent Orange. Id be interested in seeing how similar this and the red death are?

My RD blows the doors off the AO. I've herd the BC is 5-10 boards stronger in the rear that the RD.
