Hey Billy...
Any input you can give me on the recent Lane #1 cg testing?
Richie is causing a little bit of a stink on the forums.

I can confirm that Richie was at the brunswick plant for a tour about a month ago, whether he did the test in up in the air. He throwing his theories to my pro shop owner who is customer of his that the static means alot because they do on a car tire. My pro shop guy laughed at him and told him what bowler produces 1000 plus rpm's and the motion of tire going down the road, well richie did not like the answer and stormed off. Rumor is the patent is up in 2 years and he is selling out anyway, he wants to pursue his music career and retire from the sale of the company.

Wow this is news !
An honest question...Why would the owner of Lane #1 bite the hand that feeds them ?
Dissing the company that makes your balls for you is pretty far out there...

Oh come ON! I have stayed out of this sh*tstorm up to this point because it is laughable in my opinion.
I find it hard to believe that the owner of a major bowling ball company would stick his neck out in a public forum unless he really believed in what he was trying to say. I cannot speak to the validity of any claims made on either side because I am not a technical whiz when it comes to ball reaction. I just know what I see for myself.
But PLEASE! Now people are getting on here trying to imply that the test was never even conducted?! Could someone please explain in a rational way how this makes ANY sense at all? Is that to imply that Richie is trying to brainwash everyone? Gimme a break.
Some might call Richie a visionary and a genius, others might call him a kook. I call him a damn good businessman with the stones to compete with the big boys in a competitive industry, and the business sense to treat his customers with top notch customer service. Tough to argue with the quality of the product that comes outta Lane #1.
I take offense that rumors are being cited and ideas are being implied that have no purpose but to try to tarnish a well-earned positive reputation. Don't give me rumors, or anecdotal evidence, give me something a little more concrete, please. I'll be the first to request that this topic be deleted or locked. Shameful that it would come from a well respected member here like you, Nick.

Nick, keep up the good work. You have suceeded in sending at least one loyal Brunswick fan to Lane 1. If this is the kind of BS that Brunswick supports, I am done with the company.

Call me crazy but aren't you still supporting the Big B when you buy a Lane#1 ball? Maybe I'm wrong but I thought that Brunswick manufactures Lane#1 and they also use their coverstock technologies (maybe they tweak the formula a bit on some balls but for the most part).

How am I tarnishing anyones' reputation?
All I am saying is that I question that Mr. Buzzsaw is really Richie. He claims that he recently did tests with Billy, so instead of getting involved in the now 8-page drama, I asked Billy his insight to the matter. His response was that he didn't know a thing about it. That leads me to believe that Mr Buzzsaw is not who he says he is...
So ttforshort, if it is BS to question the validity of a poster, then you're way out of line and so is your tantrum.

yo this isnt supposed to be about validity noones dissing noone, all I know is that CG matters only very little, but yes it does matter even the slightest movement in the core will cause a difference, "for every action there is a reaction", and In my humble opinion WHO THE HELL CARES!!!

I haven't paid super-close attention to this, but something did just kinda pop into my head.
Last summer, the original Throwbot vids came out (when the X-hole ban was in full swing). In those vids, there was a comparison between a ball drilled basically label leverage with modest (or even negative) side weight and no required X-hole and a ball drilled with the CG kicked to about 3oz of side weight.
Visually, there was no difference in their paths down the lane (in the video). When the paths were plotted on a graph, again, essentially no difference. The additional side weight didn't make a difference in the ball's path because the core orientation was fundamentally unchanged. A 32nd of an inch, maybe, because that's all that's needed to create pin-out.
But several people commented on the two balls' behavior at the pins, how the two balls finished and continued through the pin deck. The negative-weight ball hit kinda flat (whether it struck or not) and the positive-weight ball had much more power, drive, and continuation.
I have to wonder if that's not the difference that's being talked about here. Brunswick may say CG-no-matter because reaction-wise, that's entirely true. Lane 1 says CG-does-matter because from hit and power perspectives, that is true.
I do find it difficult to believe that the pin itself doesn't matter. If that truly were the case, we'd've figured it out a LONG time ago. Throwbot isn't new, and drilling is a science, whether pro shops and drillers do the experimentation or ball companies do. I have to believe that pin-no-matter would have been observed before if that really were the case.

Pin placement and mass bias placement are your 2 biggest factors, cg is in the equation but not the determing factor

Another thing i found to be quite interesting when speaking with Tony yesterday is that Big B will be making all there own cores in house in the near future so you will be able to have more core/cover matchups then there is now.
Also all the Brunswick balls being Manufactured at there new facility overseas with all the new technologies they are finding the balls to be 3-5 boards stronger using the exact same resin formulations that are out right now!!!
And Lane 1 should also benifit by that!!!

I'm a big fan of Brunswick.. but I don't understand how they could say CG doesn't matter. When you move the MB, the Cg is moved directly proportional to the MB. So what I'm saying is that when the MB is moved.. the CG is moved. So, How can you say that the CG doesn't matter.. when you move the CG as you move the MB. If someone could explain this that would be great.
I'm always down my local pro shop and when I layout my bowling balls I will admit that I still take into account the CG and where it's placement is since then the MB placement is already given. *shrugs* I'm just slightly confused.

I don't believe Brunswick thinks cg does not matter, I think it is that they place pin placement and mass bias ahead of cg in determing ball reaction in relation to pap

Well...I think Richie is a very smart guy...from what I hear a top bowler...a great eye and a great mind and makes great products.
He has been helpful to me in spending time both on the phone and in emails explaining concepts to me that have helped me.
He also explained some fallacies to me that were known as so called common knowledge in the industry and various tests he had run in the past and I believed them and tried them and found his ideas to be true.
Bottom line there is not too much he says that I don't find to be believable or unverifiable.

the sole problem of all these issues we have in OUR lane#1 section is because those idiots come from other sections and they want to force us to believe some sh1t they say .. like we care
I feel sad for BigB, storm .. etc to have bowlers with that much talent
