Well guys got it punched and my first week in the books with it. Here you go with my mini-review. Hope you like it and hope I included enough information.
Ball I'm Reviewing:
Lane #1 H2O (not the Tsunami)
Ball Specs:
Weight: 15lbs, 3.5oz
TW: 4oz ( I know its high)
Pin: 3 1/2"
Pin approx 4" from PAP which is approx 5 1/2> 3/8^ Ending weights about a 1/2 oz finger, 1/2 oz positive side.
Approximately 2:00 o'clock pin placement to center of grip. Kept this ball in OOB condition and will maintain this surface. Ball layout did not require a weight hole. But I left this option open for review until I threw the ball and determined if I needed a weight hole for reaction adjustment. After last night this ball will not change one bit from as drilled.
Drilling I used on this ball: Straight from the Lane #1 sheet (Label) Pin located next to ring finger and slightly below it, CG in grip center, MB located about 3/4" left of the thumb near the track that worked out to be a 2:00 o'clock pin to grip center. I chose this drilling due to my tendancy to be a tad heavy handed and I didn't want a hook monster (no skid/flip) just a strong arc reaction. This ball layout was recommended by Triggerman on suggestion from Lane #1 for a guy with my specs.
Bowler Info:
Revolutions: Above average revs
Handed: Right (strong handed) Power Tweener
Axis Tilt: Approx 15-30 degrees depends on conditions I bowl on
Speed: 14.5 to 15.5mph (Qubica)
Shot: Probably typical THS... Oil Medium Light/Medium standard 10-10 oiling outside 10 is super dry
Lanes:Brunswick Pro Anvil (new just last Jan. 2005) This is the condition that if you miss outside you pay. You tug it there is a little hold but not much.
Area of the lane played: Started the night slidiing 30, starting the ball on 22 at the dots, and 20 at the arrows to a break point around 12 board at 40 feet.
This ball did exactly how I expected the H2O to react, exactly how the Lane #1 video with this drilling reacted. I got a nice smooth hard arcing shot. Pushed easily through the heads peaking at the break point and smooth arc to the pocket. Compared to my Hybrid Dirty Bomb it is about 3-5 boards in overall hook less than the Hybrid. The ball seemed to glide into the pocket and then explodes with that mind boggling Lane #1 HIT! You throw the ball bad and trust me it will make you PAY. BUT if you execute the shot you WILL be rewarded. Last night which was the first time using it this ball ALREADY earned 1/4 of it's cost for me. I got the last scratch, last handicap (pins over) and a jackpot in pot bowling after league. The whole night the ball was easy to stay adjusted with. I moved left a total of 3 boards and target 3 boards left in 5 games. So that in itself should tell you the consistancy of this FANTASTIC BALL.
Ideal Conditions: This ball is best suited for Medium to Medium Light. Although as the lanes dried out last night it did keep it's line pretty well. For a pearl it was not skid/flip and did not over-react on the dry. Rating for this section 9 out of 10.
Hook: I would have to say this ball is EXACTLY what Lane #1 said it was. I could see this ball drilled with another pattern could work great for just about anyone. The way mine is drilled it is EXACTLY what I expected. Rating for this section 10 out of 10.
Overall rating of this ball: 9.75 out of 10
