Different Look
« on: January 19, 2009, 10:34:25 AM »
I have been throwing all Brunswick for a number of years, but am looking for something that gives a different look on the lane.  I am currently have the following:

Fury
Total Inferno
Rampage
Urethane Groove
Warp Zone (NIB)
Original Inferno (NIB)
Danger Zone (NIB)
Radical Inferno (NIB)
Classic Zone Red Pin (NIB)
Purple Rhino Pro (NIB)

Looking for something that gets decent length and is more angular than my Brunswick stuff.  I'd like to try either Lane#1 or Storm.  I'm not looking for any lane conditions in particular.  I realize this request is a little vague, but what would you recommend for someone thinking about trying Lane#1.

Right there are several Lane#1 retailers like myself that are offering some killer deals on some Lane#1 balls Like the Supernova XP, BuzzBomb/R and G-Force Evolution.  You might want to look into them.

Zeus, I was thinking about the Buzzbomb/R, but I've been out of bowling for a little while and don't know enough right now to make an educated guess.

I swithced to Brunswick after throwing Storm and Lane#1 for a number of years.  I got away from the more angular equipment because I always had enough hand and Brunswick was always more rolly and was easier for me to keep playable.  Now that I am getting older and through a few finger injuries I could use a little more help on the back of the lane.  I would like something that would remind me of a Bolt, Thunder Road Pearl, El Nino Wrath category of a few years ago on today's condidtions.

Of the three I think the BuzzBomb/R has the strongest backend.  The Supernova XP will hook a little sooner and a little less aggressive on the backend.  The Evolution IMO went long and had a nice backend but not as strong as the BuzzBomb/R.

My top two companies are Lane #1 and Storm.

I have yet to throw the Buzzbomb/R. However, I have thrown a Supernova XP and it's as angular as just about any Storm ball out there for me. I think the key there is to stick with the balls that were made post-900Global (which includes the XP and Buzzbomb/R, but not the Evolution, which was Columbia-poured. My Evo is not nearly as angular as my XP).

If you go for Storm, you have more options as far as raw angularity is concerned, IMO. The T-Road Pearl, most of the pearl balls in the Fire series (Rapid Fire Pearl, Spit Fire, Sure Fire) and the pearls in the Shift/Gravity line will all do the trick. You can also get some nice deals on Thunderstruck Pearls, which are hitting the closeout racks.

I think you'll be OK either way you go. I typically find my Lane #1 gear to be a bit more consistent and controllable, while the Storm gear is more angular. Carry is great with both but a little better for my style with Lane #1.

The Hy-Road or T-Road Pearl. The Gravity Shift would also likely give you a different look--it is a VERY strong pearl ball.

If you are really wanting to try Lane #1, and want to check it out inexpensively, try the Evolution or the Nebula.  Both are great balls and underrated.....see multiple retailers on here for great deals on these two....

SUPERNOVA XP (a 3 game ball.... gets thru heads, midlane read, good backend, explosive carry and doesn't do any goofy stuff... squirt, or jump uncontrollably)

G-FORCE EVO (doesn't like carry down, light oil ball, monster backend with explosive carry.... doesn't handle as much oil as XP)

For a 1st Lane #1 ball.... XP!
--------------------

playing down and in now

G-Force
Uranium pearl
Buzzsaw THS
Buzzbomb/R
cobalt pearl

I would just hold off for a month and try a Wild Ride of Rattler.  Both have been said to be the most angular balls brunswick has put out.
