Friend of mine is heading nationals in Reno March 16. He just purchased his first Lane #1 ball a DirtyBomb and loves it. Now he would like to purchase another to match up with the shot at Nationals. He throws 16-16.5 mph med rev. likes to play 2-3 arrow to the 10th board but can play any line he feels.
Please feel free to give ball choice, pin and drilling for the Nationals shot.

The USBC Nationals are in Reno not in Las Vegas.

how much hand and speed?
the carbide+ in my book will be fistt out in team, the slight polish will get it thru the heads and the particle will make the turn, you may end up switching to the EU, I would look at something longer for the minor events, I am considering a short pin hrg drilled 1:30 stacked, should get thru the heads with ease and still retain pop on the back. Take plastic, you will/should use it for spares
in the past for me the backs have always always been snappy, I am hoping to combat that this year with some mellower back end stuff, IE carbide+, my tsunami, and then when i need to the hrg or my cherry c/2 for deep inside

Does not matter where he likes to play. He needs to play where the shot is playing.

not entirely true, last year in CC the shot was outside, but myself and others found a great line deep inside, there are multiple angles to attack, but you needd to be able to carry
less hand you will be outside
more hand 12-9 type shot is what i am hearing. as they break down you need to be able to get deep and control the break, thus the weaker backend stuff that is not all snappy

Then that is where the shot was playing, correct??

on my shift last year 80% or so played up the boards as they were told that is where the shot was at, i found the pocket from all over the lane, carry tho was at a premium. my best look was 25-12 when i was told that line could not be played. So dont go with any preconceived notions about "where you have to play" as there will be lines elsewhere on the lanes, jsut dont expect a stand left dump it right type of shot. I think controlling your break point is far more important then to where you are told the lanes are playing
