I'm looking for an answer to a question that came up during my Friday night league.
I got into a debate with another bowler, about the requirements for the USBC marking on sanctioned bowling balls. I thought that USBC had decided to require all new balls to have USBC as a part of the serial number and grandfathered all currently approved balls indefinitely.
The guy I was debating with, thought that the current unmarked balls would only be legal until Jan 1, 2008. I tried to track this answer down on Bowl.com but I was unable to get a definitive answer from anyone.
I am concerned because I have some great saws in my arsenal, that I would like to keep using after Jan 1, 2008.
Thanks in advance.

Bomb_Guy, the only thing I could find was the boxes must be marked with the logo.

Maybe you should E-mail USBC with your question.

Balls without the USBC Star and special serial # are grandfathered in.
You are confused with their proposed X-hole ban which would eliminate balls with x-holes at 08.

Thanks Guys,
I was sure that I read that they grandfathered in all of the old balls where the USBC marking was concerned, but the other guy seemed so positive that I really wanted to double check. I searched high and low on bowl.com and couldn't find a definite answer.
As to the x-hole ban, there is no way to confuse the two issues, since they dropped both the "x-hole ban" and the "CG within 1 inch of grip centerline" proposals outright. There was no dates or grandfathering involved.
I appreciate the responses, it is sad that a question like this can not be easily answered in a couple minutes of browsing the USBC web site.

I believe that the USBC logo was one of the "proposed" rule changes that were discussed in one of the industry meetings.
I think they dropped that requirement. I also think they dropped the no weight hole requirement as well...
