NEED DRY CONDITIONS BALL
« on: November 05, 2007, 05:03:41 AM »
I'M LOOKING FOR SUGESTIONS ON A GOOD DRY CONDITIONS BALL. I'M NOT REALLY INTERESTED IN ANY PLASTIC'S BUT I'M BOWLING ON VERY DRY CENTER LANE CONDITIONS AND CAN'T HOLD THE POCKET AFTER THE 1ST GAME. THERE IS SOME OIL ON THE OUTSIDE (10 TO GUTTER) BUT THE BALLS I'M CURRENTLY TRYING TO THROW HOOK TOO MUCH TO TRY & GO DOWN THE 8-10 BOARD & IF I GO TO THE MIDDLE & SWING IT OUT TO THE OIL IT SLIDES PAST THE HEAD. CURRENTLY THROWING OVER 15 -20 BOARD WITH HAMMER CHERRY VIBE -TOXIC & STORM FIRED-UP - VERTIGO-SUPER SPORT & NONE WILL HOLD THE POCKET. I BEEN DOING THIS FOR 25+ YEARS AND READY TO QUIT- EVERYONE WANTS TO SELL BALLS BUT NONE SEEM TO WORK..ANY KNOWLEDGEABLE SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

have you tried a power groove, or tropical storm? they might be low end balls... but it is probably just what you need

Go with the plastic XXXL Buzzsaw. This is not any old plastic ball. You won't be disappointed. =:^D

I know its not Lane #1, but you could try the Roto Grip Neptune....great reaction and carry without being over aggressive off the dry.

tropica is not for dry lanes

I say XXXL for real dry (plastic skids)
Bullet if you get one
or a weak drilled H2O (I have on drilled stacked and this ball is a monster on med to dry lanes... very hard to controll on real dry lanes!)

the Evolution seems to be too strong for dry stuff.

I have no clue about the Supernova XP... but from AverageJoe's Video I think this ball with a neg MB could do the trick, too. Could...

I too say XXXL, mine has pulled me out of a jam several times since I got it this year, nothing better for dry IMO...

I think you have a few options.
If you can keep your speed down, the XXXL would be a good choice.
The Bullet may also fit the bill. It does not need much oil at all to allow it to skid quite a way.
As for a Tropical Storm, I find it to be very similar to the Bullet, but the Bullet definitely hits and carries much better. That said, a bad day can be made worse by both of these balls if you are dealing with over/under and/or an inconsistent release.

drilled normally i would say either a bullet or xxxl would work great. but if your like me and cant find a bullet, i would say any lower end ball, drilled pin axis will work wonders. that was the ticket for me anyways, a circle high voltage drilled pin axis, smooth as can be off the dry, weaker than any reactives that ive ever thrown...

If you want a true dry lane ball go with the Bullet but if you want a ball that is a lot more versatile go with the XXXL red or black.

the difference between the two and the reason I say the bullet for true dry conditions is that is exactly what you need for the bullet to even wrinkle bone dry.

The XXXL on the other hand you can use on anything from dry to light conditions.

And I know this sounds funny but from my experience with both this is what I have seen and I know it makes no sense

My 1st choice would be the XXXL, but if you are sure you do not want plastic (even though this is NOT your father's plastic ball of old) then I would go with the Bullet or the Evolution.
