Uranium is strong
« on: February 13, 2004, 07:20:14 AM »
Wow.

It is a strong ball, It really makes a nice move to the pocket.

drilled 4x5 pin under ring.

I used it on a short, dry sport shot.
I started out playing 15 to 8. Obviously, in a drier sport condition, I ended up 25 to 10.  That was as far in as I could go.  Those righties burned up the inside.

Overall, the ball is stronger on the back for me than my nugget.  I have the city tournament tommorrow and Sunday, so I will see how it reacts to oil.

This ball really HITS.  I had a couple pro shop guys come up and look at it, and they commented on how it "sounded".

So far so good.

How close is it to the Raging Red Fuze?  I'd pay ANY amount of money (if I had it, lol) for one of those or something similar.

I would guess that it is stronger midlane.

I will try to get a picture of it up tonight.

Snakes, if your ball is drilled 4 x 5 with pin under ring finger, does this mean the CG is on the Grip Line?
I have an Uranium sitting at Doug Sterners waiting to be drilled and am trying to learn something here. I was thinking either Label Drill with CG in palm... or... 4 1/2 x 4 with Pin under ring finger or something similar. Do you have an opinion on this? I have 14-16 mph speed and revs a wee bit lower than medium.

Brick, if you like the label 1:30 drills, but want to try a CG out drilling, I would put the pin over the fingers, so the ball doesn't burn up too early, with your slower speed. Just a thought. =:^D

I completly agree with T-God.

My cg is on the grip line.  I was going to drill it like 5x6, with the cg in the negative, but i did not know how strong the ball would be. I did not want any overlap.

I have a pearl cherry, that is 3x5, the Uranium appears to have as much backend, but a stronger, heavier move to the pocket.  It probably outhits it as well.

In retrospect, that is the most surprising thing about it, is the hit.

That dense core seems to be the trick.

Brick,

I would go with the label drill.

OK T-God. Thanks. The only problem here is I have never had any luck in the past with Pin over fingers. Never did have any trouble burning up or rolling out, but did have trouble getting the ball to turn the corner because of my low revs, plus I don't have a lot of hand. I have an Emerald and Gold Nugget and both are drilled sort of Label type with Pin beside ring finger and CG kicked out from grip line 1" and no weight hole. Due to the different covers and core, these balls compliment each other well. I want the Uranium to compliment these balls also and not duplicate them.

If you go with a CG out drilling, you'll be able to stay in the oil longer. But, you may also have to come off the side of the ball more too. If you're too much up the back, the CG out will burn up too early when you swing the ball a bit.

If you like the label drills, maybe you can put the pin more to the right of your ring finger, keeping the CG in the same place..? This will be similar, but give you a slightly different reaction. =:^D

I bowled in a tournament, and had quite a bit of interest in the Uranium. It is always nice to have people watching how a ball reacts and how it handles transition. The Uranium is as strong as my LRG, which was my biggest hooker.
The difference is, it has a ton more backend than the early rolling LRG. I started with the LRG and it was beginning to flatten out, and ping 7 pins, and I actually had to move in with the Uranium. Wow.

It is a monster, with serious continuation through the pins.

I'm thinking about getting the Uranium this week. I throw the ball about 18 to 18.5 mph with very high revs.Looking for a good layout for getting the ball down the lane.I currently have a pro purple  w/ 1-2 pin above ring finger, super carbide w/2-3 pin above ring, xxl (15#)w/1-2 pin under ring and carbide c bomb 2-3 pin under ring.My xxl hooks more on a med oil pattern than my scb.So any suggestions? Also looking to cut down on my rev rate.Just got my ball speed down from 20 mph.Thank you
