Super Carbide Bomb
« on: February 01, 2006, 05:08:24 AM »
After all that commotion a few months back regarding approval of the polished SCB it appears that it has been discontinued. bowlingballreviews has moved it into their discontinued section and Buddies no longer offers it for sale.

Is that true, has it been discontinued? If so, what is slated to replace one of the greatest oilers ever?

That answers nothing!! Every discontinued ball ever approved appears on that list. Here is the question again: bowlingballreviews.com has moved the SCB to their discontinued side. Buddies pro shop no longer lists it for sale. Has it been discontinued??? It appears so.

The second question is, if it is discontinued, with what is Lane #1 going to replace one of the alltime best heavy oil balls??

I placed this question on the Lane #1 forum and someone suggested the EU. No one is going to convince me that a particle pearl (no matter how good, and I love particle pearls) is going to replace a solid heavy load particle.

So maybe Doug Sterner, T-God or Mr. Buzzsaw can shed a little light on this.

You might want to check with Lane #1 on that. I doubt that a major on-line seller like Buddies would remove it from their site and I doubt that bowlingballreviews.com would specifically move it to their discontinued section if something wasn't going on. AND, the lack of response from those in the know, ie Doug Sterner, T-God etc leads me to believe that something's going on.

I'm not saying Buddies is right or wrong, but Buddies owns BBR.com, so the fact that both of them say the same thing isn't surprising.  Don't take it as two authoritative sources, because they're owned by the same people.

they are not discontinued or illegal, no need to be in the know to have that info, LOL.

So, explain what's going on and why those in the know are mysteriously silent??

BOTH balls ARE approved!!  I was talking with Chuck, and also Sawuser informed me of this.  All these questions and comments, yet nobody wants to believe it.

Dave, YOU ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION!!!! This is not about whether or not they are approved, we know that they are. But that has nothing to do with if they are DISCONTINUED. The websites I've sited are reporting that the SCB has been DISCONTINUED, as in no longer being manufactured. That is the question, not their approval status by the USBC BUT whether or not Lane #1 (Brunswick) has discontinued production.
OK????

Here's the deal on that too, if you take the Polished SCB and sand it to a dull finish, what do you have?????  Answer, the Dull SCB.  Both balls are one and the same, as far as core, and density, this was so the balls could be approved by USBC, by Lane 1 agreeing to stop making the SCB.  I see this as stupid because teh PSCB is the SAME ball, but factory polished, so what is the problem, even if it is discontinued on paper, it is still being made in the form of the PSCB.

That doesn't make any sense. Check the on-site sellers, I can't find 1, not 1, selling the PSCB. There are still some listing the SCB for sale however.

What hasn't been addressed, not by anyone who would definitively know the answer anyway, is why Buddies no longer offers the SCB (or the PSCB for that matter) for sale and why bowlingballreviews lists the SCB (with NO mention of a PSCB) as being discontinued. So far no one from Buddies or the Lane #1 gurus from this site (Doug Sterner, T-God etc.) have said one word. Members of the FOS are surprisingly quiet as well.

My question is simple. Has the SCB been discontinued?

no I answered and I beleive what i have stated will come to be what has happened.  An agreement between lane #1 and USBC for approval of the polished scb resulted in lane #1 having to stop sales of jsut the polished scb, nolt the sanded scb.  a sort of save face for both entities.  Lane #1 does not produce the polished scb anymore, they only sell the sanded version, and it is still available on lane #1s site

You may be right. Or, it might still be available at Lane #1's site because they've got plenty that were manufactured still to sell.

Your explanation, however, still does not explain to me why a major on-line seller like Buddies would no longer list it for sale and why bowlingballreviews has shifted it into their discontinued page.
