I drilled out a Uranium for myself and had the chance to do some preliminary testing and here's what I have found...
2nd shift house shot oiled 8 to 8 50 units, 28 feet downlane, buffed to 40. Outside 8 is 6 units to the ditch.
Drill pattern:
Since I had success with the drilling, I used the same drill pattern I have on my Inferno and the Big Blue. Pin is above the bridge with the cg kicked 1-1/2" right. Ending specs: 1/2 oz finger, 5/8 oz side, 1-1/4 oz top weight, small weighthole on PAP (3/4" x1" deep)
My sales rep told me to just roll the ball and watch it work. Well I can say he is 100% right...if you try to force this ball, it's gonna fizzle out on you.
Was able to play the same line as my Inferno (stand 25, play 15 to
but that is where the similarity ends...the INferno is all about backend. The Uranium starts up much sooner and had a much better read downlane. With the Inferno I had maybe 3-4 boards of area. With the Uranium I had about 8...no exaggeration. the Inferno was also much more sensitive to ball speed and wrist changes than the Uranium was.
Out of the box I go stone 4, next 9, leave a stone 8, spare for a 279 game. Not bad!!!! I have never done that before.
my 4x4 drilled Emerald does more on the backenbd than teh Uranium but I also left a plethora of splits and 4's and 9's with the Emerald due to the sharper backend. the Uranium is much smoother.
As for hook potential, it's more than the Emerald but less than my Nugget (drilled 4x3, large weighthole in thumb quad).
Thus far I am inmpressed and I think the ball will be a great all around league type condition ball for most bowlers. Again my drill pattern was far from aggressive so I am sure it can be juiced up but I tend to drill stuff out so I get to use it in my home house...much more treaction and I don;t know if I could use it :-)
I do still have 4 left from my pre-order that are unsold. Drop me a message if interested.
