NIB cherry pearl...
« on: June 26, 2005, 11:35:10 AM »
I hate to advertise for this guy as he charges rediculous shipping, but this is rare enough that someone may be interested.  NIB 15lb cherry pearl on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36105&item=7165865906&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

$150 + $20 shipping...

well S2 if he had to shiop it to Cali or such the $20 would be a bargain :-)

However charging $20 for an in state shipment like I'd have is ridiculous.

On the shipping side, if I ship a ball from here in MN to CA or FL, it would be about $17-18 using UPS. However, FEDEX does the same distance for about $10-12. Unless he is double boxing and insuring it, $19.50 is a bit high wether it is cross country or even worse, in state.

USPS will ship a bowling ball for less than that, anywhere in the country.

Perhaps so, but there is too much history of USPS munging bowling ball shipments.  For a few bucks, it isn't worth taking the chance.

I still regret having sold my C2.  I bought it used and sold it since they weren't registered...got more for it that I paid, but still

USPS has always been at least $5 higher than UPS for me...

He is not selling them for Lane 1 on ebay. He is selling them for himself. He puts a lot of lane 1 equip on ebay because he will get a better price for it than in his shop.

Atleast you know you are getting a ball from Lane#1.

And yes they are in the used ball business, they actually have tons of used stuff on hand at all times.

How do you know that Lane#1 is selling their equipment through that eBay seller?

Wow, look at that.  Some bidder that just created their eBay account yesterday has bid on it and nothing else.  Makes you wonder...

As to the original question about shipping costs...I have shipped a lot of equipment from both PA and NY and to get a ball to California it costs at least $21.

I don't know if you realize it or not but UPS now also charges a non-residential area delivery fee. in other words if the addressee is not in a urban area they charge more to deliver it. I shipped a ball to CO and it was over $23.

And to also discredit any ideas about being ripped off by the shipper, I have shipped through the UPS Store, used my UPS account online and also taken packages directly to the shipping depot. Prices have not wavered more than $1 from each other.

And for the UPS haters...yes, FedEx is cheaper but as one Fed Ex employee stated to me..."for the extra $5 you get a huge piece of mind if you use UPS. Our lost and damaged rate is huge compared to theirs." The other problem with FedEx is finding a depot around me to ship through. They have the letter drop boxes everywhere but you can't put a ball in there :-)

Although I have emailed the guy and he swears he is just a local proshop native to that area.  I think He has some connection to Lane#1 but denies being a part of them.  Doesn't matter either way to me but I purchased An Orig. Purple from him and a few other super rare balls and now this Cherry C2 its kinda fishy.  If not related to Lane#1 he is really close geographically and must have at one time purchased several balls from them.

On edit I think Doug kinda summed up what I was trying to say.

Agree mostly with what trigger said and also keep in mind if the Cherry bomb is red raging fuze aggressive reactive a pretty strong cover and with the added flip block much stronger especially on the back than the Cherry C2.  Pearl Pk18 on the CHerry C2 is a little tamer than the agressive reactive on the cherry bomb.
