lane 1 diamond core
« on: October 12, 2003, 04:18:23 AM »
when does lane 1's patent on the diamond core expire? i would love to see if companys start making balls with diamond cores once it does expire. this would once and for all prove or disprove whether the buzzsaw core hits harder than other cores.

I dont know about other buzzsaws, but my XL does not hit harder than any of my Track balls do. The buzzsaw does hit and carry good and I like it, maybe a more aggressive saw would hit harder. I read and wanted to try Lane 1 balls because of how they were supposed to hit the hardest, but I just have not seen it yet.  I wish I could throw something more aggressive, but the XL is a tad too much ball now. As of right now the hardest hitting ball I've thrown has been Track. Cheers!

compare the xl to something like a tornado, wild, or scout and i think you will find that it hits better than any of these balls and can be played on the same shot. you cant compare it to track because track makes all hook monsters. put a track ball on no oil, then put an xl on no oil,and im sure the xl would hit better. its like comparing apples to oranges, it just doesnt work.

the saws are good stuff but not all balls work the same for everyone. any ball that carries cant be all bad. for me track hits the hardest

About 20 Buzzsaw guys will jump on my back for this, but I don't think they hit that much harder than anything else. As a matter of fact, I think my Icon kills my Buzzsaw in carry percentage.

I've had my Cherry Bomb for about a week now, and it's gone back into my bag because of carry about five times. Today I went seven pin, ten pin, almost 7-10 (ended up as a 10), seven pin with it in a tournament to lose a match. This was after all my other stuff was striking from the same entry angle.

I will say that it rolls stronger in the backs than anything else I've thrown, but I'm still not convinced this ball hits any harder than my Columbia stuff.

Undoubtedly the best bowler to ever come out of Sequoia Lanes. Maybe that's why they tore it down.

NoNeed4Revs, no jumping from me unless some one "hits me first"....lol...I don't have a problem with what you are saying and how you feel about Buzzsaws vs Columbia balls. Balls from all companies don't work for everyone. Columbia works best for you and Buzzsaw doesn't, Buzzsaw works best for me and both Columbia and Storm don't, Ebonite will work best for someone and ??? doesn't, Brunswick will work best for someone, and ??? doesn't, and etc. etc. Everyone must find what balls work best for them and then use those balls.

Could the Lane#1 owners answer this for me? I currently throw a Too Hot on my Thursday night league. It hits harder than anything around me. How does the XL compare to the Too Hot? I was thinking of getting the XL for a replacement.

Berreez,

In comparison between my Too Hot and XL:

XL drilled CG out has a more even roll, pin action and carry are better.  We can't talk about hit, one man's TANK is another man's TONKA.  I also feel that you can own both balls if you have the Too Hot drilled real weak.  My XL was suitable for medium to light oil, and the Too Hot was suitable for lighter oils.  My Too Hot had a tendency to hit flat more often than not, even though every ball can, the XL (most Buzzsaws for that matter) really won't hit flat.  You will be able to see when you're going to leave a tenpin.

In the old days people used to cut wood with axes.....................now and days...............they just have Executioners do it for them!

Pin_Krusher IS a serious threat to modern day bowling wood as we know it today.

Berreez, if your Too Hot works that well for you, then I would stay with it and not be looking at something else. I mean, why do you want another ball if yours is doing the job?

Brickguy22: I'm trying to find an "excuse" to switch over to Lane#1 balls. Yes I am bowling very well lately. I've thrown four 715+ series (highest 731) in the last month. My lowest series is a 661 (I just jinxed myself). Most of my games are with my Too Hot or if the lanes have a little more oil my LRG.

Guess I'm like so many other bowlers out there, always looking for something to make myself even better.

I feel I need too give more info on my opinion. Yes I do think that Track along with others are putting out way too many balls too fast!!  The Track balls that I throw are not the hook monsters that you think I'm throwing. They are the Green Pearl Stomp and The Hex(not the Hex Extreme)and the XL hooks more than those two.  As far as cores goes making more than one core makes balls that potentially will work for everybody along with working on different oil patterns. I will not get into the 300's and 800's because I do not have any proof one way or the other on this.  As far as price of used balls that is in the eye of the buyer and seller what they feel it is worth.  Lastly I was not bashing Lane 1, so far I like the XL just need a little more oil for it or a different drilling. I am thinking about getting a XXL since Track has not made a true dry lane ball yet and if I bowl in a house that has oil I might look at some of the more aggresive Lane 1 balls.  Just my .02 and personal experence.
Cheers!!
