OK my F.O.S. brethren - Ball recommendation
« on: September 23, 2005, 03:38:35 AM »
Okay guys,

I only have a Hybrid Dirty Bomb right now, my stats are in my profile.
Right now I'm bowling with the following arsenal:

Hybrid Dirty Bomb - All conditions from medium to heavy (it handles this in my hands)box condition
Battle Zone Bullet - light. medium to medium polished to 1000-1200
Champions Ultimate weapon - 800-1000 compound finish for light-dry conditions and spare are handled with this one (I just kill the shot)

My question is what recommendations would you give me cause I need something to fit the lighter side of medium. I want to take the Bullet back to factory finish and get something else for the medium shots.

I'm thinking maybe an H2O. But I'm listening to all suggestions. But I can only get one ball. If I need to change surfaces I will on current equipment but would prefer them the way they are for now. Help but it must be Lane #1 I'm hooked.

Well Slowhand, I'm a little confused. Are you wanting to replace a ball or add to what you have? The H2O will definitely fit under your HDB, but I think it may come in just above your battle zone, depending on layouts. If you are looking to replace balls for a lane one arsenal, I would do this:
HDB--- med to med heavy
H2O--- light med to med
Bullet--- light dry to light med

Future considerations: SCB or solid U for heavier oil

SlowHand, sounds like you might be pretty heavy handed, yes?  If so, you might just move the Lane #1 Bullet up to go under the HDB.

Yeah you may say I'm a LITTLE heavy handed. I am using the battle zone under the HDB now. The Lane #1 Bullet may be a good choice.

Not sure about the H2O cause from what I see on their videos it's pretty strong.

Sawuser, I am looking to add a ball not to replace unless what I get overlaps the Battle Zone Bullet which an H2O might. Maybe Rags has an idea...add the Lane #1 Bullet if I can find one... Aren't they hard to find?

How about a polished Tsunami? Or would that be TOO MUCH for a heavy handed guy like me?

From what I hear the tsunami is stronger than the H2O. The Bullets are available almost anywhere for about $150 + shipping.

A very profound thanks to you all. I'm not going to make a snap (PUN) decision without serious thought. I've made mistakes before and this one isn't going to bite me in the butt! I'll be checking in later so mull it over. All ideas will be looked at.

You might try to find a XXL Urethane, that would go where you want, or take the H2O, and polish it high.   If you still need more length, sand it to 1000 grit and polish.

Triggerman,

The ball is drilled like this, and believe me it's a monster.

Ball Facts:
Weight: 15lbs 4oz
Top Wght: 3.2oz
Pin to CG = 3.75"

Ball Drilling
Pattern for drilling: Modified stacked from the drill sheet (Lane #1)
Pin and CG was placed 4.25 from my PAP with a weight hole in the thumb positive quadrant. This hole is 5/8" dia and 3" deep pitched toward the ball center. Not sure of the static weights. - This is more like 4 1/4" X 4"

Bowler Specs:
Style: Power Tweener
Speed: 13-15mph at the arrows
Revs: Above average - lots of hand

Sorry about being slow... Work calls.

Triggerman,

Just a thought, how about a Dirty Bomb? The pearl one... Would this one fit under my Hybrid? And should I drill it weaker or the same as my HDB...

I may have a line on one used but not often kinda thing.

Sawuser,

I am currently using 15# stuffies. I switched back 6-7 years ago and didn't experience any loss of carry. Matter of fact my carry got exponentially better due to the increase of speed dropping the weight. I don't have that much now but it was worse... Yikes.

Triggerman, I don't have a HDB, but are you saying your H2O is stronger than the HDB?
