1st Ever Lane 1 Problem
« on: July 20, 2005, 05:11:01 AM »
Guys I've had a ton of the Buzzsaws, my XXXL just cracked 1/2 way around. Weird that it cracked from the X-hole. Anyone else ever have one crack?  Guess I can't complain though, I've had it 2-3 years now.  Just sucks that the ball I use the most dies on me.

Nothing yet for me personally I accidentily sent a buddy on here my emerald and the core had seperated but he plugged it and he still swears he loves it.  XXXL being plastic of course harder is more prone to cracking.  I have had pins crack but just because I drilled close to them no real coverstock cracking that I recall.

I was actually unfortunate enough to have sent a ball away to another user and it cracked in transit. It was an old Silver Diamond that I had. When it left me, there was hairline cracking in the pin. When it arrived to him, the crack spread up into the ring finger and all the way out to the x-hole. I couldn't believe my eyes when he sent me the pictures. That totally sucked. I still owe the guy a ball to make up for that one. Anyhow, that's the only saw that I've ever had do anything like that. I think it was just a freak thing.

Quite often, if the sharp edge is left on any hole it can be prone to start cracking. I always hit mine with a slight bevel. If the sharp edge hits anything, such as a sidewall, it could start a crack.

i had my black raspberry crack from the finger hole to the weight hole--not happy...it was however,in a hot garage at the time..i have seen several balls crack after being left in truck of a car in the heat. sometimes when balls are being poured, an air hole can occur, and when they expand with heat,a crack appears..... at least your xxxl is replaceable !!!!

Easy for you younguns, in my case I'm happy if I just hit the correct lane let alone the correct arrow.

No drastic temperature changes, simply from the house to the car to the lanes and back.  If it had cracked right after I got it drilled it might have been understandable.  Bear in mind this is after at least 2 years use.  Only other balls I've ever had crack were Ebonites and they were cracking on everybody.

Oh well, crap happens.  Guess it's time to save up for another one.  Luckily my Pearl Bomb is still going strong, can't guess how many games it's got on it.

Last year I saw what happens when you drop a frozen ball from 5 feet.  Must've also landed just right because you could see the weight blocks (pucks and all).  Split right down the middle!  Obviously not a Saw but it was fun to look at the interior of the ball and wonder at the heating system of the locker area at the bowling center.

Glad I take mine home at night.
