Title: Opinions on Enriched Uranium
Post by: viruz on April 25, 2007, 04:00:21 AM
Hello everyone,

Just wanted to know the opinions of users of Enriched Uranium.
How you drilled the ball?
When you use the ball?
The kind of ball reaction you are getting?

Hopefully some of you guys will be able to shed some more light into the ball for me. Thanks in advance.

I love mine, the only bad side is I don't use it a whole lot but when I do it's a machine..  I got to use it last week for one game and shot 243, a few weeks back I used it and threw 268..  Awesome ball.

Mine's drilled Stacked, I use it mostly when the lanes are a little to dry for the G-Force but not dry enough for the C+.

Have one pin under bridge. Good length with excellent recovery. Depending on layout, would be a good benchmark ball.

I love mine, great ball for medium speed, straight up 10 on a fresh clean house shot.

731 two weeks ago with it.

Used by Michael Haugen Jr. on tour, before me.

The ball kind of has a love/hate relationship.  I've seen more negative opinions about this ball than anything else Lane#1 has made, except for maybe the Cranberry.  I know two guys with them and they both hated it.  I might be getting one for free, so I guess I'll find out for myself.  This one was originally drilled for a lefty with a ton of hand and now belongs to a right handed speed dominant guy who mostly throws down and in.

I'm neither of those.
14.5-15.5 MPH Medium Revs.

I can see why someone with high revs wouldnt like it, a real jerky reaction off the break.

And the speed dominant person probably skids it through the break point, probably many flat 10's.

I'd have to say its touchy, but if your revs/speed match up well, its a dynomite ball.

Right on the nose Megamav. I have had one for a few months now and still it's sort of touchy for me. I've had my high set in league with this ball but other days, it either jumps way too early or lopes down the lane. Your release and speed have to be consistent with this ball to score, even on a house shot.

Currently looking to get it drilled Pin on right of RF, diamond tilted left towards the 10 o clock positiong and a possible balance hole. I wanted the ball strong as my hands aren't very big and i probably don't get as much revs as you guys.

mine is drilled 5" stacked from PAP .. use it for meduim oil or heavy oil with clean backend .. this ball, out of all lane1 balls, has the biggest backend

when the lane condition is perfect for this ball, it is another story

Megamav nailed it, When i first started throwing the ball i hated it,it was very ovr/undr and speed sensative, I would have to stay up on my speed and release to keep it out of the nose, Now, It is the first ball out of my bag, It is very hard hitting, When you start leaving 8&9 pins its time to put it away

mine was pretty much over/under reaction oob
it became controllable when I hit it with green scotchbrite
to remove the shine, then polished it with 3M Rubbing Compound

I sold it after a while as there was too much overlap
with my pearl cherry bombs.

i think its a lane #1 classic benchmark ball.....my fav drilling for this ball is pin below the ring finger, cg then kicked out about 1-2 inches ...good length and massive recovery on backend..i throw hard,17mph, and this ball always comes back....would always be in my bag for any tournament!

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

One of the best bowlers in my area saw me with Lane #1 equipment and mentioned he used to throw an EU. He said it was an awesome ball but died on him pretty fast. I'm not sure if that's typical.

first time I heard that.
did he/she performed any hot bath/scotchbrite thingy?

anyways, I find scotchbrite pads to work well with particle balls
as it does not hurt the particles - JMHO.

Thanks for all the info guys. I drilled my EU today as how i mentioned previously. Logo at 10 o'clock, Pin on right of RF and a balance hole.

Played 6 games with it and scored 206, 218, 198, 187, 182, 190. Its pretty good considering I've only been bowling for 6 months. I did find the ball quite speed sensitive at first but once i got a little used to the way the ball would swing it was great. Each game i played different lines. 10/10, 12/10, 10/5, 14/10, 12/8, and 15/10 which wasn't soo good cause i had to really work hard to rev the ball to make it come back. So far first 6 games with the ball and fairly happy with it.

Though I still think my hrg hits harder, maybe just need to run in the ball, its still in oob condition. The hrg has had about 4 months of play on it the surface is probably a little bit more dull than the new EU.

Thanks for all the info guys. Love the URANIUMS!

Strider: LOL! The Cranberry and the EU are two of my favorite Lane#1's, and I have many.

As far as the EU, there is nothing inherently 'touchy' about the ball. I think pearl/particles in general are more condition specific than their solid counterparts, but when you have a good lane condition match, the EU is about as good as it gets.

After having the other Brunswick covered Uraniums (Pearl & Solid), I was surprised at the look the EU provided. The EU has alot of potential backend, so drill accordingly. I have mine with the pin on the center grip directly below the fingers, with the CG kicked to the right. X-hole on PAP.

Enjoy the ball. If you're getting it for free, that's an added bonus.
