Rags not sure but my experience goes like this earlier this year I was using the carbide bomb pearl (purple one) almost exclusively in two leagues loved it couldn't put it down.
Over the summer I was using the carbide bomb a lot in league loved it. Got a black cherry or so a year ago about this time of year used it at nationals and pot bowling some once I got home I loved it.
Had a cherry bomb pearl this whole time during all these other ones and I hated it, the ball flat out hooked to much in the backend for my liking and I could never find a pattern to use it on. I know for me at least the cherry bomb pearl with its high flaring mini nuggets and bomb core simply got too much length with its pearl cover and thats why I didn't like it, I beleive for me at least the stronger covers on the bomb cores help them roll earlier more even for my game and thats why I have liked them all except the pearl cherry bomb, perhaps Rags thats what your experiencing with the SCB.
With all that said the new series bombs Ie. Dirty and Hybrid are even better for me the smooth control they have is remarkable, I have since replaced my often used Barbide Bomb Pearl in both leagues with the Dirty Bomb Pearl which i feel with the activator gives me that mild particle pearl nature of my old carbide bomb pearl. The Hybrid has certainly replaced my need for the black as its is a few boards stronger and much smoother also.
I have a NIB SCB but fear I may never need to drill it unless I go back to nationals I feel I could use it there if the shot was similiar.

I should just quit bowling, oh wait I already tried that.
Now that I am back and my Saws are sharp again, I am ready to cut some wood.
