Does anyone know when the original Silver Diamond was produced? I've pulled mine out of retirement and it's looking better than anything else out today. Averaging 220+ with it. I'm thinking the original was sometime around '85-90?
-
Has to be later, early to mid-90's. Id say '92-95

Looks like December 2001. Seems like they didn't make anything new from the early stuff in 1994/1995 until 2000. The only thing listed as a Buzzsaw/C pearl was approved in 12/01, but they don't list a color. On Lane 1's retired ball list, the only /C was the silver. Everything else looks like /C2. Look at page 55 of the pdf.

yes the silver diamond was much earlier then 2001 believe me
its more like 1995

There may be some confusion. I know that Richie put out a silver around '02, but it was a second generation and not nearly the ball that the original was. I bought mine used around '03 and it was well used then.
I even asked Richie and he couldn't tell me.

yes around 01 or 02 a 2nd batch was made but to me it wasnt like the original
that came out in like 1993 or 1994 or 1995 i cant remember exactly either,
u could tell the difference by the silver and how it it looked. it was much more white dot like in the new batch and the original was much more pearl

Always under the impression that YEAR was part of the serial number .. can't imagine Rich not saying that!
-
What's the serial number?
This should apply to Lane#1 equipment poured in Michigan by Brunswick...
Old chart of Brunswick Serial Number codes.
First letter is the month.
A - Jan. B - Feb. C - Mar. D - April E - May F - June
G - July H - Aug. I - Sept. J - Oct. K - Nov. L - Dec.
Second letter is the year
F - 1992 G - 1993 H - 1994 I - 1995 J - 1996 K - 1997 L - 1998 M - 1999 N - 2000
O - 2001 P - 2002 R - 2003 S - 2004 T - 2005 Y - 2006 Z - 2007 A - 2008
May no longer be the exact same system that gets used by Big B now, but the idea is similar...

I have a friend that has a case of them. Obviously would never get rid if them. :p
Original silver was my only Lane 1 ball, and it was AWESOME.

J_Mac, serial no. is ELD5381. So, May '98?

Works for me...That was the era when a company would actually make a ball for more than 6 months before kicking to the curb.

J_Mac, your right. I wish someone would go back to making balls with PowerKoil 18 covers. Unlike some of the current stuff (especially it seems by Storm) they lasted forever.

I just put holes in a previously undrilled Brunswick Swarm... PK18 with a strange "honeycomb" multi density core that I don't believe was used for anything else... Ball is only 5 years old, yet only a handful of people that I'll encounter while bowling will have any clue what it is...
They just don't, and sometimes can't, make coverstocks they way they used to...
