OK, so now that I have the XP and have thrown it for a few days, I suppose I am allowed to weigh in. In fact, last night, I took 4 balls to the lanes and threw a total of 5 games by throwing each ball for a couple frames and moving to the next ball. I took my new XP, a Pearl Uranium, the Evolution, and the HRG. The Evolution is drilled pin over bridge (4.5" from PAP), CG out, and the other 3 are a label 1:30 drill...XP and PU have the pin 3.5" from PAP, and the HRG pin is a little closer at 2.5" from PAP.
The HRG was the straightest of the bunch, and therefore the easiest to control. It is a low flaring ball, so this is of no surprise. The Evolution was a little stronger and much more angular off the break. The XP was a little stronger yet, and was smoother than the Evo at the break, yet more angular than the HRG. The Pearl Uranium covered more boards than the other three balls, but was only slightly stronger than the XP...these two performed pretty close to each other shot after shot with the PU only covering 1 or two more boards. I did not take my original Supernova because I know that ball is a good bit stronger than all of the pearls listed.
So, in closing, I maintain my original stance on this topic.
If only buying one ball, you cannot go wrong if you can find an original Pearl Uranium. The XP would be a close fit if you cannot find one. And lastly, the Supernova and Supernova XP will be a devastating one-two punch!
