If only buying one ball, Pearl Uranium.
If looking for a good one/two punch...Supernova and Supernova XP.
In my mind, the Pearl Uranium would be a snug fit right in between them.

This post is funny, how can any of you other then deadmoney comment on which is better? the XP is not even released yet. and for my money the XP is more versitle then teh pearl u. I found the pearl U to be a great bench mark ball, but also found it to be very heavy rolling and shorter then the XP on a house shot
I as well as others on here appreciate everyons input, but please dont comment on something you have not even thrown yet and make a comparison
Eric, we discussed this at great length, please take into account that people are recommending one ball over one they have not even thrown yet

OK, so now that I have the XP and have thrown it for a few days, I suppose I am allowed to weigh in. In fact, last night, I took 4 balls to the lanes and threw a total of 5 games by throwing each ball for a couple frames and moving to the next ball. I took my new XP, a Pearl Uranium, the Evolution, and the HRG. The Evolution is drilled pin over bridge (4.5" from PAP), CG out, and the other 3 are a label 1:30 drill...XP and PU have the pin 3.5" from PAP, and the HRG pin is a little closer at 2.5" from PAP.
The HRG was the straightest of the bunch, and therefore the easiest to control. It is a low flaring ball, so this is of no surprise. The Evolution was a little stronger and much more angular off the break. The XP was a little stronger yet, and was smoother than the Evo at the break, yet more angular than the HRG. The Pearl Uranium covered more boards than the other three balls, but was only slightly stronger than the XP...these two performed pretty close to each other shot after shot with the PU only covering 1 or two more boards. I did not take my original Supernova because I know that ball is a good bit stronger than all of the pearls listed.
So, in closing, I maintain my original stance on this topic.
If only buying one ball, you cannot go wrong if you can find an original Pearl Uranium. The XP would be a close fit if you cannot find one. And lastly, the Supernova and Supernova XP will be a devastating one-two punch!

Thank you Jon, that is EXACTLY what i see, I told Eric (original poster) basically the same, my grief was the whole hearted consensus for the pearl U I know it is a great ball but the xp is mightly close and readily available at this time
and you are right the solid and xp are a very tough 1-2 to beat
Thanks for a great comparison, I think that would shed a lot for most people
what do you think of the hit of the xp and solid vs the heavy uraniam cores?

Again...very close. The PU may actually hit a little harder, but I seem to notice the pins staying slightly lower with the XP. I had more "blowout" leaves with the PU. The XP seemed to mix the rack a little more.

Don't mean to hi-jack the topic, but what is in a ball where one ball will make the pins stay lower than another ball? I have always noticed that my Enriched Uranium seems to make the pins stay lower than my other balls. I use the same release on all of my balls, just play different angles with them.

I've noticed that the pins are staying lower since the change from Big B. I noticed it instantly with the HRG.
