Title: Please help with layout for G-force
Post by: tenpin on February 12, 2007, 09:24:56 AM
I am not familiar with drilling Lane 1 and would like to get a good drilling on this ball for heavy oil shots.  Ball has 2-3 pin and 3oz of top.  My personal profile is ball speed around 19mph.  PAP is 5 over 1/2 up.  Please help me out.

Thanks,

I can't tell a lot by your provided info. If you don't track too close to the fingers or thumb, I would say drill it with the pin under fingers & cg slightly out or even the rico drill. Here is a link to the drilling info.

My suggestion is to drill it with your favorite layout for a long rolling oil ball. For me my layout is pin right of and slightly below midline of ring and the cg kicked out from stacked by about an inch. Keep your finger weight under 1/2 oz and side weight around the same. Adjust the cover to get the desired reaction.

I was thinking of the Label drilling 1. How would this react for anyone that has this kind of layout? Do you know what kind of static weights I should try to end at?

I did drill mine last night.  I put the pin under the bridge alittle towards the rf and the cg kicked out.  I have not used it yet but will get to use it tonight or during the weekend.

I drilled mine Label 1:30 as you had thought about.
Ending weights are +3/4 side and +3/4 finger.
My PAP measurement is the same as yours...high track.
I am very happy with the results. It is very strong, yet smooth.
I have only used it for one set...Shark pattern in our PBA experience league.  The ball read the mids and made a nice move off the back of the pattern. I was 63 pins over average for the night. I am very happy with the ball itself, and the label drilling I chose for it.

Tenpin,
That layout should work perfect.  If you do not have an extra hole and the ball is loping a little to much....Drill a 7/8" hole 4" from the center of your grip through the cg about 2 inches deep. Ending with negative weight is OK.  beans
