Title: Question
Post by: Storm269 on December 08, 2007, 02:54:11 AM
Last night during league, as usual I started off using my SuperNova. I play it down the second arrow but when the ball hit the dry it didn't find the pocket but ended up short (2-4 pocket). I struggled to find my line in the first 2 games until I switch to my XP in the third. I play it down the 2nd arrow and once it hits the dry it make a sharp turn and hit the 1-2 pocket and I end the game with a 254.
I would like to ask what are the possible reasons why this 2 balls are acting this way ? What is the lane condition like ? etc etc...thanks !

Perhaps there was not enough oil to play the Supernova...it may have been burning up. The XP is better suited for lighter conditions. The polished cover will help the ball get down the lane, storing more energy for the backend of the lane.

I'm not familiar with either ball other than the fact the Supernova is a solid while the XP is a pearl cover.

Based on that and relating to other similar type covers, I would think that the reason for the different reactions, most likely, would be that the volume of oil on the lanes was too light for the 'nova.  It was burning up through the heads and mids and lost its side rotation before hitting the dry.

The Xp with its pearl cover and its lower friction in the lighter oil was able to maintain its side rotation through the oil and still give you a good reaction off the dry.

So when there is not enough oil on the lane, the ball burns out and not hook enough ? Thought if there is not enough oil and you used a solid, it will overhook ? I am a bit confused....
