I'm really wondering, they look similar.  I have this crazy belief in sandblasting pearl balls for heavy conditions and super tight lane conditions so I need to know how different these are.

It's all a matter of balance.
The Emerald has the weaker cover, N'Control, but the stronger core.
The Silver has the Stronger coverstock, PK 18, but a slightly weaker core.

If you or I were to sand anything, I'd sand the Silver. The PK 18 is quite responsive to surface changes. I believe that a sanded PK 18 will handle more oil in a better fashion than a sanded N'Control, but that's just my 2 cents.

I bowled with a girl who had both of them, not just any girl, though.  She is legit (averaged 195 with high game 279 and series of 749, also bowled for the NCAA Collegiate Title at Central Missouri State last year).  Her Silver was very skid/flip compared to the Emerald.  The Emerald is definitely earlier and more continuous.  Her Silver DID NOT like carry down at all.  Then again, anything skid/flip is not going to like carrydown.  I would try sanding the Emerald to 400 grit and see what happens.  Try that and then go from there.  All in all, though.  Just ultimately get a solid reactive or step up to a particle coverstock for those types of conditions.
