Thanks,
although, I'm not so sure that 3m rubbing compoud can get it back to the correct shine. I have never used it, so I don't really know, but I'm doubtfull. I have had pretty good luck with Brunswick Factory Finish. When you do decide to resurface yours, let me know how it goes. Thanks,

Which one the uranium solid is 800 grit smooth out of the box and the pearl someone on here once posted that all lane#1 pearls are done the same way I think 400 grit then highly polished with brunswicks factory finish high gloss but don't quote me on that.

I should just quit bowling, oh wait I already tried that.

Well I for one tried the 3M rubbing compound and it did the job well

I would think the rubbing compound would fill the pores of the ball. Does it not?

Rubbing compound fills in the pours. The pours are bigger/more open when using a 600 grit, vs a higher grit like 2000. Once the compound is cleaned off, the pours are still open. This allows the ball to grab a bit more on oil.

Fine sanding the ball "closes" the pours totally, and or makes the pours as small as possible. Because the pours are now closed, or really small, it makes the ball squirt/slide on oil, but hook harder off the dry. =:^D

I sand my Uranium to 400 and then use Ultimate Quick Cut 500 Grit to remove some of the sanding lines and then give it a final coat of Columbia 2000 Grit Polish...This same method also works even better on the Emerald.

I asked the question before about the polish. I talked to "BuzzsawMike"
he told me that the only polish he uses on his Saws is Mothers Mag wheel polish.
So i went out and bought some , and let me tell you that stuff really brings out the shine in a ball. Not to mention that it is kinda corse like rubbing compound so it will take out the sanding lines as well. It will make a sqeeky clean surface. I have been using it on all my stuff for about a year now. No compliants . It works just as well on other balls other than a SAW.

"MOTHERS MAG & ALUMINIUM WHEEL POLISH "

You will need a ball spinner to get the best results. Give it a shot.
