L1 HRG Rico
« on: February 12, 2007, 11:16:16 PM »
I have a HRG which I am not confident with drilled 5 x 3 pin under ring finger.
Also tried another drilled 3 3/4 x 4 stacked pin next to ring finger.

Both compared to other L1 balls were not as consistant in the back ends.
After a chat with another L1 enthusiast last night, the suggestion was to try a Rico drill for fun.

Has any one tried this on a HRG or a similar ball.

My PAP 5 1/2over 1/2down
Ball speed 16mph 450+ RPM'ish

many thanks
MB

no i havent tried it, but i am not a fan of it.  you may want to try knocking the surface of the hrg down, it makes the ball very consitent rolling, doenst take away from the length too much and makes it a much better ball IMHO

Trigg,

I did take it down to 1000, ball was smoother, but did not seem to have the L1 pin action, I have just lost confidence in this ball.

Just thought I might try something more out of the norm.

All my other L1's know their place and I know them.

I will try 800 for tomorrows league, but normally below 1000 balls burn out for me, you never know so I will give it a try. I will have other balls as a back up.

I knocked the shine off my HRG with green scotchbrite.
I went from liking the ball on certain condirions to loving the ball on most THS shots. What a difference in the control department!

That would be me..

For me the ball is consistant all the way down the lane..  But the lanes need to be dried up a bit or it just slides, it does not have a strong backend reaction like many other drillings would produce.  If you need something for drier it's a good choice IMO, but it's not gonna be strong enough to get through the mud.

I'd be really suprised if you don't hit the holes with that drilling. Inverted trackers have enough trouble with pin under drillings let alone that far down.
