Recommended lane condition for theTHS Buzzsaw
« on: May 31, 2008, 02:02:40 AM »
I threw the THS Buzzsaw at two different houses and though this is not meant to be a review and I know it said THS but:

the first house I bowled on with the THS (fresh ths)the lane condition was dry outside medium length oil, not long not short but a strong backend.  The THS was tremendous on this shot.  Never over reacted and thinking that there might be a carry problem. There was absolutely no problem with the carry with this ball.  Kicked out the 10 pin great, light hits carried, great experience.

the second house had a fresh house shot but more oil in the middle dry outside but longer oil.  The THS Buzzsw did not do well on this shot, especially when we got a little carry down.  The THS went too long and could not recover with much of a chance to carry.

No I don't want to adjust the surface because I perfer it to the first house shot, used my Mighty Shift on the second house shot with great success.

So this is not to be a slam, I'm sure someone could easily use the THS on either shot but the THS was great for me on the shorter oil house shot.

So my question is: Is the coverstock (box)intended for lighter oil looking for the strong backend?

I would describe a THS as a 38' Christmas Tree pattern which seems to describe your first condition. The longer the pattern and the more oil in the middle the less typical it becomes.IMHO

Nic,

I feel the Teal THS is designed to control the overreaction a lot of us tend to see on the wet/dry transition on the THS.

The Diamond core is very even, smooth and arcy by nature. The 900 Global solid resin covers tend to be smooth and even from my experience.

Add these 2 factors together and you get a ball with control built in.

Now on a lighter , shorter pattern the matte finish cover will work fine. As you get longer with the oil the need to get more out of the weightblock becomes apparent. With no multi-denisties or flip blocks, the THS won't turn the corner unless you get it to start up quicker...ala altering the surface.

So yes, your assessment is correct. If you want to get it to work on a longer pattern you need to tweak the cover or drill one stronger.

I'm glad your Lane 1 woes have not carried past your original BuzzBomb.

Welcome back to the Brotherhood Nic!!!!

Gazoo and Doug,

Thank you for the feedback.  The THS is drilled with the pin under the ring finger and the CG kicked.  I believe the THS is going to be excatly what I've been looking for with conditions that have shorter oil and in need for control.  Like I said, the carry is great on this condition.  No need to adjust the cover, I have the second Buzzbomb and the Mighty Shift.

The second Buzzbomb is working out real well. I even bought a Supernov XP to try and help me on the condition I bought the THS for nd the XP is shrper off the break point and will compliment the THS very well. I'm lso throwing the Megaton drilled very similar to the THS and it is stronger, earlier nd much more angular then the THS and the XP.  But its suppose to be.
