SBA tournament in Montgomery, Ala., today. Used mostly Lane #1 gear today so I figured I'd post it here.
Ever bowled in a bowling alley with a fritzed-up air conditioner when the outside temps were 95 degrees F with 65% humidity? Welcome to Alabama. The building had three A/C units, of which one was functioning.
I'll blog this for anyone who cares to get the details, like I did for state tournament earlier in the year, but suffice to say 1111 for six games isn't going to cash. One game over 200. The only good point was I went 15-for-15 on 10-pins. I have never been 100 percent, ever, in my life when I've left eight or more of them (thanks, XXXL Starburst).
Weird day on the lanes -- ball choices actually got more surface-aggressive as the day went along. Going weak wasn't the answer. Started with particle pearl (old Gold Nugget), spent most of the day with a BuzzBomb/R and finished with a 900Global Break S-75 and an AMF Clutch Pearl. Six people on our pair, and aside from one person rolling 761 handicap in singles off a 172 average, it was rough. Best doubles score on the pair was around 1150.
That's probably the most physically uncomfortable I've ever been in my life while bowling with the A/C in the shape it was in. Too late to get any tips before tomorrow's team event across town, but let's hope it's better than this trainwreck.
