"Tsunami" or "The One"
« on: January 27, 2006, 09:27:00 AM »
My coach recommends that i grab a benchmark ball, somewhere on the med-heavy spot since that's what im missing, i believe. Which would be better the one or a tsunami. I like ebonite and i want to try lane 1. So i'll let you'll pick it. So pleze help a brotha out.

i know but it doesn't fit the bill, plus im trying to not keep buying bowling ballz every 3 months. I just wanted to get a pretty solid strong arsenal and roll with those for about a good year or two, but it's hard because every time i see something new it's like gimme gimme gimme. I have been doing good, but i broke down and brought a tropical storm(black and red) and i just got my span changed by my coach SO i have to buy new equipment. What i have is in my profile.

it's never too late to chime in trigg. I bowl on a fresh, i believe 38 foot ths or whatever they decide to put out there. I'm not sure how well the tsunami covers fresh shots. And it's ALWAYS new oil, cuz they oil it right before we start.ANY SUGGESTIONS? Besides you all are all right. My big deal is a monster on med-heavy to heavy oil, i just need to get so surface prep done to restore it's hook back.

thats the reason y i didnt want the one cuz of those reasons. i counted my revs yesterday and i get about 12-14 revs on it, maybe more. My stats in the profile.

I think the tsunami is back in the the race. and i know where i can get a great deal on one.

How would u get it drilled Trig. BTW I have some big !@# hands, don't know my span but i need to find out soon.

Given the choice between those two, I would go with the Tsunami. The One is too snappy for a benchmark. Lots of over-under from what I have seen (lots of people in my league buying these, but most are struggling to control it). As for the Tsunami, it does not handle heavy oil for me (stroker). My benchmark ball is the Uranium Solid. Often, I will continue to throw it. If it is not working, I know which way to go from there. The Tsunami is a great ball, but it works best for me when the lanes get nasty for the crankers. I can play the Tsunami in the groove they burned up.

Well said, nova.  Tsunami is the best ball I have ever thrown, hands down.  I used to say that about the Solid Uranium, which is also a great choice, but the Tsunami is reliability and confidence in a neat blue and white package.

This ball gives you the world in terms of area once the lanes start to transition.  If your other equipment is getting a little jumpy or finicky, pull out the Tsunami and watch the smooth ball reaction.  It definitely smooths out the rough edges on spotty conditions, and it is super readable because of the coverstock.  It is easy to tell what the lanes are giving you.

Before this season, my high league ending average was a 209 (around 100 games).  This season I am up to 216 and 219 in two leagues, and it is mainly because I have averaged over 230 with the Tsunami.  Trouble is, it isn't always the right ball choice in my house, but when the lanes are right, I feel sorry for anyone who has to bowl against me.

Fellas you have convinced me. When i get my tax refund i will be a proud new owner of a Tsunami, plus i love the whitewater color.

So how should i get it drilled?

The Tsunami is not for the conditions you want, BUT why not go Polished SCB, or the Solid Uranium; both would do well for the desired conditions. I do not like ANY ball (the One) that is drill specific, and is so limited in layout options.  The One is the only ball that says my favorite layout is not a good choice for it, while it works great on all my other stuff.  Go with the Solid Uranium first, or second would be the Hybrid Dirty Bomb.  My other choice would be the Polished SCB.

Label 1:30 or 4x4 stacked should suit you fine.
Axis leverage is another option if you want it to start up earlier and have a smoother arc.

Then what you need is a ball for oilier conditions than medium, if I read your arsenal right.  My suggestion would still be the Solid Uranium, the Tsunami is a great medium to medium light oil ball, and if you get it into too much oil, it will skate some, depending on rev rate, and ball speed.  I am sure that the Tsunami WILL prove to be an extremely usable ball, and will fit between your Overtime and Tropical Storm.

What will then happen in time is that you will see that Lane 1 will replace your current arsenal eventually.  Good luck, and if the Tsunami fits where I believe it will, I would then recommend you get a Solid Uranium for the oily conditions, and either a H2O or Bullet for the lighter stuff (for me I use the H2O, sanded to 1000, and polished).
