Anyone with CREDIBLE info on the Carbide LRG
« on: October 23, 2003, 09:36:26 PM »
I'm doing some research and would like to know a few things about this Buzzsaw.  The reviews posted aren't helping me much.

Thanks

Mine was incredible.  I think you probably saw one of my reviews in my earlier "I shot THIS with this ball!" days, but it's still the best ball I've ever thrown to date.  More of an arc than anything, but if you get it on heavy oil, it will make the turn when it even sniffs a hint of backend.  I absolutely loved it on sport patterns because it gave me the ability to play further out than most other people could.  The finish was a perfect matchup.  It wasn't aggressive enough that it would roll out, however it wasn't weak enough that it wouldn't quite make the corner.  As soon as I get into some money, I'm gonna see if I can find about 10 of them.

Do you remember how you laid it out?

Based on what I've seen from the Lane 1 website, it's not designed to cover many boards.  Something like thumb leverage or a CG out pattern will get this ball rolling in oil as soon as possible.  Isn't that the point of a low RG core, to get the ball rolling sooner in the midlane?

I don't know but, like you said OnlyBuzzsaws, I don't feel the label drill would be appropriate on this particle ball.  I can see it coming out of the oil and buring when it hits dry, making people think it didn't hook very much.

Thanks

Anyone else?

The reaction they have on the website isn't exactly that accurate.  Like Buzzsaw said, it's not a true HEAVY OIL ball, but I think it reacted the best out of any ball I've owned in response to proper skid and hook in the oil, with a smooth powerful transition to the dry.  I believe mine was laid out 4x2, pin next to the ring finger.  I know that's an early rolling drilling, but I didn't have a super amount of hand back then.  When I developed a hand, I redrilled it pin above bridge, cg out just a bit, or 5x4.  It acted a lot like a Tour Power with more on the backend, but still the same amount of control.

i would say its a good sport condition ball...holds the line well especially when the shot tight...worth having in the arsenal, but for only certain conditions.
