I want to thank Buzzman, and my driller for the time they spent and suggestions on my pin in ball. Well, the verdict is in!! My driller really did some research on close pin drillings, and here's what he came up with and hooked me up! He went with a 315 degree layout. The cg was in the pin on my Black Buzzsaw. I bowled two games so far to test it out. I'm very impressed with this drilling so far.

First game shot 213, just trying to get a good feel and release. Second game, had the front 8, solid 7 pin, and then a 10 pin. Great carry and sweet move to the pocket. It has a nice predictable roll, and great backend move and carry. It gets the pin flyin' just like all my other Saws do. Another winner from Lane #1!

The 315 layout is pointless on balls with no significant preferred spin axis AKA mass bias.

how can't be pointless when it worked fine with fatboy8 !!!

what works for me, might not work for someone else .. and vice-versa

fatboy8, if this drill worked great for you, stick to it and best way to make sure is to drill another ball similar to this ball and see if you get the same result

It's pointless because it this particular ball all he did was move the side of the core closest to the surface of the ball to the finger side of the ball.  

The core in a pin in a symmetrically cored ball like this is very well centered and by moving the CG around like the hands of a clock all you're doing is slightly changing the ending static weights.

I agree with J Mac. This appears to be just a slight offset label drill, which is fine, nothing wrong with that. Also on a 315 drill, the wt block is inverted with the cg mark above & to the rt of the pin on a rt hand drill.

Here is my 2 cents..... That is an original Black/C correct??  Lane #1 didn't start marking CG's until the Green Bomb... Was the CG located on that ball before drilling??? I had 2 Silver Diamonds that the CG was over 1.5 inches from the label.....Just wondering.  beans

Excellent point... that does appear to be more like the top of the diamond than a CG mark.

The CG mark is ON the pin itself. It's the white "spec/indent" on the pin. You can plainly see it up close and in the picture. All I know is it's worked out great, and thanks for the input GTX.

J Mac- wouldn't the pin BE the TOP of the diamond?? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's usually the center of the ball/core. So the CG being ON the pin is the same as top of the diamond core.

Beans- The CG is clearly marked before and after drilling-on the pin. Hope that clears up your doubts also.

Just wanted to give my input on the ball and drilling, sorry you guys are tore up about it.

I guess you misunderstood my rambling.  What else is new?

Yes, to my understanding the pin is the top of the diamond core.  I don't understand where you thought I was saying otherwise.

When I was talking about moving the side of the core closest to the surface of the ball I was refering to the location of the CG.
