Review: BuzzBomb

Ball:
[Lane #1 BuzzBomb]

Original Box Specs:
[15# 3oz, Top 3 1/4oz, Pin 2-3"]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bowler Data:
Right Handed, Rev Rate Highly Dominates Ball Speed (Speed 13-14mph at pins),
PAP 4 3/4 over by 1/2 down, Span 4 3/8 x 4 1/2

Layout Selected:
5 1/2" Pin to PAP, 5" MB to PAP, 2" Pin Buffer

Look Created With Layout:
The above mentioned layout was used due to the fact that with this ball speed
being on the slower side we wanted to be able to find some use for this fine
piece without applying polish to the surface.   We selected a lower flaring
layout, a strong pin buffer to promote a strong move on the backend and a
slightly less then strong MB placement to also promote energy retention.

Lane Condition:
THS with some slight OOB from 5 to the ditch

Overall Experience After 3 Full Games:
We have found that this ball DEFINATELY is in need of oil volume!  When
starting out with a fresh pattern this ball will be quite a monster.
Definately gets into a heavy mid lane read and follows with a strong,
aggressive move to the pocket.   The flare rings were kept very tight
with this layout as well and this layout would serve well for someone whos
ball speed is on the slower side and needs less of the flare to help out
with reaction.   We did notice a tendency for this ball to keep the pins
very low.   Around the end of the second game the ball started to become
unusable as the shot broke down.   We chose to keep throwing it thru a third
game on what became definately drier to light conditions after the breakdown.
This ball was way too aggressive at this point even with the low flaring
drilling placed on it as the backend became unmanageable.

Similar Ball Comparisons:
Attitude Shift [Very simliar motions with same layout]
Fury [Not as angular in out of box, dull finish]
Resurgence [Very similiar, though Resurgence seems not to be as angular]
LevRG [Seems to be a little more over/under then BuzzBomb]

Joe: How much stronger than the Supernova? Also, if I'm interpreting correctly, you've referenced the Buzzbomb as a more angular version of the Resurgence. At least from my observations of watching other bowlers, the Resurgence might be the most aggressive ball currently available. Is the Buzzbomb really that strong?

Thanks.

Definately a much more aggressive ball then the Super Nova.   IMHO from all
the Resurgences I have drilled and from what I can make of this one with the
the lower flaring layout I have on it it is going to overall hook more then
the Resurgence.   Both are wonderful balls for heavy oil but I think youll find
this one is going to be a tad bit more angular.

Thanks

Fatboy

I have not personally thrown the SCB as I never owned one and we never stocked
them back then so I would only be giving you a guess, which I dont want.  Maybe
some others can shed some light.

I will tell you when I get mine, as I have a SCB now.  Chuck spoke with me and he says that I will be either replacing my SCB with the BB or at the least, polishing my SCB so that it moves down in my arsenal.
