I recently won a Stealth Bomber in the monthly drawing on BBE. Drilled it pin over RF and MB stacked below thumb a little over a week ago but never used it other than 4-5 throws or so after drilling. Tried it today for one game and bowled 197 on lanes that were originally oiled medium-heavy yesterday but were used from mixed league bowling Sunday night and open bowling afterwards. Considering my average for the past winter was 173, I didn't feel bad at all with the 197 on poor conditions for this ball.
I had the ball lightly polished with Valentino's Snake Oil and it still started hooking early at about 35 feet causing it to sort of arc from that point on all the way to the pocket. Even though it lacked pop on the back end because of the lane conditions, the carry wasn't bad for the early hook and lane conditions not suited for the ball. As a comparrison, my Brunswick Versa-Max went long and had plenty of pop on the back end and destroyed the rack with great pin mix every time it hit the pocket, so you can see the lane conditions fit the Versa-Max great but were wrong for the Stealth Bomber.
In talking to my driller and others that have the Stealth Bomber, with more polish, the Stealth Bomber would have had more length and had pop on the back end. I decided at this time not to polish it any more and save it for fresher and also heavier oil since I had the Versa-Max to handle the conditions I saw today. Why polish it enough to handle today conditions and end up with 2 balls for the same conditions?
I do think though that the Stealth Bomber is everything it is touted to be. Just like any ball, throw it on the correct condition and the ball will definitely perform.
