Redrilling my Blueberry..............
« on: December 16, 2005, 01:04:11 AM »
I've got a full arsenal as is. XXXL for fried lanes.U-Pearl drilled 60* for light oil,HDB drilled label leverage for my benchmark ball,BCB set up for heavier mediums, andn a Colossus Supreme for the floods and tournament floods.
My former benchmark was the Blueberry. I bought it used, plugged and redrilled it and it worked well. Last year,it cracked around the middle finger,so it was plugged and redrilled again in the same place. In the third week of this yewar,it did it again.
After a talk with the pro shop operator,I decided to get another ball as he told me that it would keep doing it(cracking) in the same place.
My question is this.....I'd like to try a rev leverage drilling on it. Has anyone tried this drilling pattern on this core type?? What were the results??? Will it work,or not???
I'm a righty, medium revs, medium speed,3/4 roller. Not sure what axis tilt and rotation are,but my track is about 1 1/2 inches to the left of my middle finger and the rings go to the left progressively. If this helps,I get about 3-4 inches of flare on the HDB with it's current setup.
The lanes are wood with Guardian.I usually start standign 20 and playing 10 and adjust from there, depending on what the lanes are telling me to do.
Thanks in advance to all replies.........

Sure it would work... I have had plenty of saws drilled up 4X4...which is pretty close to leverage...  I didn't care for stacked layouts with the bomb cores.. but had good luck with the others (such as the blueberry core).  Depending on the surface of the BB, with that layout, I would expect it to fit somewhere around the HDB.  With a leverage layout, it might be a nice ball to switch to once the lanes break down a little and open up...

I have a blueberry with a 4 3/4" pin. The pin is above & barely to the right of the ring finger. The cg is only about 1" above my thumb, but is close to centerline. At a guess I would say it is a 12:30 or 1 o'clock label drilling with the cg in the thumb quadrant. It is probably the smoothest rolling ball I have ever owned, but has plenty of power. As long as you keep it polished, I think you would be ok with thumb/rev leverage drilling.
