Buzzsaw Success Stories!
« on: October 26, 2003, 05:01:52 PM »
Ok. I'll just have to accept that I'm not gonna' see any Saws on the National Tour this year...bummer. (Unless of course, Rudy K. or Micheal H. have an outstanding year!) But, how are they doing in the regional tournaments? I mean, they've got to be doing well there...right?

Does anyone on these forums compete in Regional tournaments with Buzzsaws? If so, how have you been doing? Also, no one gave me a reply as to taking their Saws to the Mega-Buck Tournaments. I'm sure someone has made some kind of money with their saws at these tournaments. Law of averages and stuff!

Come on people, help me out here! Someone has had to have taken their Saws into competition and kicked pin-deck butt some place. Please give some replies to this!I guess what I'm trying to say is I want to hear some success stories about people and their Saws.

Now, I know that just because someone else is successful, it doesn't mean I will be (of course you do know that I won't be accepting this type of mentality!), but It'd be good to have some ammo to throw back at those Saw haters that think they're not worth it. Yeah, more 300's and 800's have been thrown with the Saws, but who has the money to show for it...or had it anyways.

I'm gonna' throw some Saws, some how, some way, I want to use their stuff! Hell, I've been wanting to throw with them now for over...what...five plus years! You all have no idea how bad I want to do this and how much of an impact these forums have had on my decision to want to do this! I want to start bowling so I can have fun again, but I also want to bowl to be competitive and right now I feel I have the best connects possible to do this, i.e. a coach, local Buzzsaw knowledge, and great support from my better half as long as I pay the bills on time! (Will the silliness ever end?!?)

So please, Mr. Clump, Doug S., A_P_K, DrillWizard, jeffrevs, hamsterrevs, anybody, please share your Buzzsaw success stories! If you don't mind please note what you threw, what tournament you were in, your score (if you remember), did you get a trophy, and how much you won. You all can add to this list as you wish. I'll be looking for some replies people! As always, thanks in advance!

Well, I am no PBAer but....
This season, so far, 1 300 and good chunk of change in brackets. My game is starting to feel good so I expect a sweet 800 within a few weeks!

Ya know, I quit bowling for 8 years. Got back into it last year. Threw an Ebonite Nitro for a very long time but bought a Blueberry Buzzsaw. My average jumped a good 10 pins. Wont say it was all because of the ball but it has been a contributing factor!

On a side note, IMO, what other people do with their Saws have no impact upon your game. Buying Lane1 wont put the fun back in your game or money in your pocket. Granted, they make a great bowling ball but one has to be consistent enough to throw big scores and win big money.........

Good luck with your decision. Oh yeah, its all Zen, "Be the ball!" LOL!

I haven't entered in any tournaments this year yet, but I have been using my XL and Carbide Bomb in my scratch match play league.

So far AFTER having the XL redrilled to a CG out pattern, and following some good advice on the Carbide Bomb, I'm 22-2 in the last four weeks of bowling.

I started out the year using other equipment and I was 5-12 for the first three weeks, I missed one of bowling for my sister's wedding.

There were no honor scores involved, but enough consistency to shoot well enough to win.

Lane #1 regional staffer Tom "Beans" Bienek, Jr. uses Buzzsaws in the PBA Eastern region tournaments.  I believe he's doing quite well with them.

DrillWiz and Curly, thanks a bunch for the quick replies. Mr. Curly, please understand that I do expect Lane 1's equipment to be then end of all my bowling woes. That's not gonna happen. I've just wanted to bowl with their products for a long time and never made that step.(I also don't want to bowl with one of the big four this time around either.) Plus I'm planning to work on my game (the reason why I have a coach/mentor) so I CAN be competitive when I go to tournaments. They have this local traveling league my coach told me about that makes you bowl on a sport shot, so you have to perform if you want to win.

Heck, I just happened to luck up on meeting someone where I work who happeneded to be a professional bowler! Figure those odds huh? I can get an enourmous amount of knowledge from him, not only how to play the game, but how to prepare myself mentally to play the game. Also, I put in my original topic starter that I know that whatever anyone else does, doesn't mean I'll be as successful. So I appreciate the honesty and straightfowardness of your reply and it is well received. Constructive criticizim never hurt anybody!

Come to think of it the man who turned me on to Lane 1 is a member here, he competes in a few tournaments house, county, state, and regional alike.  Off the top of my head the team he was on won a local assosciation tournament using Buzzsaws.  Whether or not he cashed in other tournaments is unknown to me right now.

Hot Damn! Now that's what I'm talking about! Yeah, all those high numbers and stuff are really cool, but could you imagine pulling them off at a major tourney?!? Ok, the season is still young, I'll give you that. But I'll probably be asking this same question later on in the bowling season, so ya'll better prepare or I'm gonna have Mr. Clump clump ya'll a good one! (Man, I need to stop! Just kidding ya'll. LOL!

Yeah, Mika lucked (they both bowled exceptionally though) past him in the round of 8 in KC.  Haugen WILL make at LEAST 2 or 3 shows this year, and I wouldn't put it past him to win his first and possibly second title.

I'm BETTER than you because . .

1) I've met the DNL leprechaun
2) I get paid to watch tv.
3) My dad's friend's brother knows Chris Barnes' stepdad.
4) Kristi's my buuuuuddy
5) I get to witness a man with the speed and revs of Robert Smith combined with the accuracy of the guards in the lobby scene of the Matrix average 240
6) I can throw a better fit over nothing than you can.

League cashes to date too early for tourney:
Carbide:$900+ (includes $250 for 7th place Mich. scratch tourny)
Silver Diamond: $800 pot o gold 290 game
Super Carbide: $2200 swept all pots
Cherry Bomb:$1100 one $500 strike pot
Black Cherry bomb:$0 so far a Black Cherry dud
I'm bowling the first half season with only Lane 1 instead of my usual mix as sort of a personal experiment. So far average is down but cash percentage is up.Go figure.

Rackattack, can I be like you when I grow up? Have you ever taken your saws to any of the Mega-Buck tourneys? If so, how did you do?

Shout,
I don't start tourney bowling til after the first of the year.I turned 50 this year so I'll probably bowl a couple of regionals,The Hamtramck Classic, the Hoinke and ABCs.Last year I threw mostly Storm and Columbia. To be honest the only reason I went back to Lane 1 was the Inferno.I was given one of those to test and loved it.The roll and hit reminded me of my old Buzzsaws so I pulled a couple out to round out an arsenal.I don't get handicap so my main motivation at the handicap tourneys is to bowl on the money squads. This is usually made up of scratch bowlers and money guys. The high game and totals pots run about $500.If you can sweep four games and totals your up $2500.Add in brackets, high game and house pots and your lookin at $3000+ just by beating the guys you shoed up with.Any tourney cash is bonus.
