Buzzbomb
« on: February 13, 2008, 07:36:11 AM »
I just got my "Buzzbomb" today and went to my pro shop and had it drilled up immediately.  I then hit the lanes which were freshly oiled for the evening leagues and I threw some practice shots for about 15 minutes.  This ball is absolutely amazing.  It outhooks every ball I have including the Morich "LevRG", "Awesome Revs" & "N'Sane LevRG", Hammer "Black Widow Pearl" & "Black Widow Bite".  I'm thinking about putting some of Beans "Secret Sauce" on it.  Has anyone else tried this?  How much will this change the ball reaction?

It only took you 15 minutes to decide it was the best thing ever?  Impressive.

After talking with my pro shop operator we decided to put the pin above and centered between the finger holes with the cg and mb in a stacked position.  This ball goes clean through the middle and turns hard and continuous on the backend.  There is no quit with this ball.  This will not be a dry lane condition ball by any means.  This is my 1st "Lane-1" ball but it won't be the last.  I am truely impressed with this ball and I can't wait to use it tomorrow night in my league.

I didn't say it was the best ball ever.  I said it outhooks everything I currently have.  Only time will tell if it performs the way I expect it to.  I also threw my other balls during this practice session for comparison.

Nice to know there is always someone to put words in your mouth for you.

I am picking up my Buzzbomb from the shop tonight before league; can't wait to compare what I have heard to what I actually see.  I have a Bite and it is a monster, so if this out hooks the Bite...

SprayNPray, you won't be disappointed with this ball.  Let me know what you think of this ball after using it in your league tonight.

Spider, sorry I took your meaning the wrong way- call it shell shock from the Lane #1 hater flack.

srbowler, I will chime in after I have a chance to throw it.  So far, I have not heard anyone who has tried the ball say they didn't like it, so to me that is a good sign.  Can't wait!

I don't hate.  I had a Lane 1 Ball once..it was good....I just don't know enough about them to buy one anymore...not to mention I don't want to pay the big money and not like it...just my way of thinking I guess.

I want to ask a COUPLE of questions.  I am not hating and I am not trying to hijack as I am proud for anyone who has found a ball that he/she likes. As expensive as these things are these days, it is good to see that someone has not "wasted" their money.

My 1st question is, WHY IN GOD'S NAME DO WE NEED ANOTHER NEW BALL THAT "OUTHOOKS EVERYTHING IN MY BAG"?

My 2nd question is, WHY DOES EVERY NEW BALL TRY TO OUTHOOK THE LAST ONE?

My 3rd question is, WHY CAN'T WE JUST HAVE A FEW GOOD, MIDDLE OF THE ROAD BALLS AND BE HAPPY WITH THAT?

srbowler, I wish you great luck with your new "toy", but my question for you is, WHY BUY THE LATEST, GREATEST, HOOK MONSTER, THEN IMMEDIATELY WANT TO GO RUB POLISH ON IT?  I mean, if this ball is SO amazing because of its "hookability", why try to change it or slow it down? And, if it wasn't just the perfect reaction you were looking for, what makes you think it is so "great" in the first place?

These are serious questions.  Like I said, I'm not hating here, just asking.

Juggernaut, I am only thinking of putting some polish on the ball.  Not sure if I will.  I was hoping for some feedback on this before I decide whether or not to try this.  Normally I don't alter the OOB condition.  You are absolutely right about the high cost of bowling balls these days.  It's getting out of hand.

juggernaut....I can answer your 3 questions very simply....

Ball manufacturers suffer from the "mine is bigger" syndrome and feel the need to keep outdoing one another...

they feel this need in several ways....

1. they want to have the biggest hooker in the game
2. they want to have the hottest selling ball in the game
3. they they want to make more money than anyone else

So what these 3 premises point to is that "a few good middle of the road balls" won't allow this to happen....ball companies want to mkae money and in order to do that they need to produce new balls that are unique and different from what's out there now. Most notably of these defining qualities is hook potential. Case in point...how many balls would say Storm sell if they came out with a ball that stated "hooks less than any ball on the market?"

Face it, hook potential sells bowling balls. New and harder hooking balls create sales which turn into profits for the big cats.

If we, as bowlers, would stop buying into the ball of the month club and allow ourselves to settle on "a few good balls" the ball companies would stop the silliness.

FYI....the BuzzBomb is a hooker but can be EASILY tamed down top become an all around ball. i have mine pin over ring, cg out with a 1000 grit Abralon surface topped with Magic Shine...just an awesome piece.

I agree with what Doug Sterner said in general but that applies to other companies  like BigB, Storm, Ebonite ... etc

lane1 doesn't make many big hooking balls, the last one we had was the G-Force and there are 7 balls came after it that were ranged from meduim-heavy to dry conditions

your question is irrelevant to what lane1 releases, you might want to ask your question in other forums where they actually do that

also have in mind there is a big difference between overall hook and backend hook
