Silver Diamond Drilling Help; request for
« on: December 22, 2003, 08:04:54 PM »

Greetings to all readers and Happy Holidays...

I am getting a silver diamond the next couple of days and need help
in getting some drilling guidance/specifications...  Please see my profile. I am looking for a medium distance hook with enough energy left for the backends.
Couple of my bowling balls are currently drilled to go long and snap hard at the backend..1/2 Side and 3/4 oz finger.

I am looking for a max break of no more than 5-7 boards to the pocket.

I picked Silver over the Cranberry for various reasons and wanted this ball
to be my Lane#1 benchmark..I had Black Raspberry/C and Viper and were not
very pleased with them...and hoping this will be my go to all around ball.

Please make recommendations for Silver Diamond only as I will not change
my mind into getting a different Lane 1 ball.  Thanks for all your assistance.

The ball should come with a sheet showing several different drilling layouts with the results of each one.  If not, you can always visit the Lane1 web site for drilling specs.

As a quick side note, I notice you only mention the side and finger weight (static balance) on your other balls.  With today's equipment, it is more important to get your dynamic balance correct.

cal, you said you had the Blueberry and Viper, but weren't all that happy with them. How were they layed out, as far as the pin and CG go..? The Silver will give you more length and more backend than either of those 2 balls. What are you looking for this ball to do..? =:^D

Cal,

I just purchase a Silver Diamond and drilled it 5 X 4. It goes pretty long before making the turn. It has a nice even arc to the pocket. Hooks about 7- 10 boards for me. Seems to be a more versatile ball than the XXL for me. Hope this helps.
