Silver Diamond or XXL
« on: October 23, 2003, 07:45:04 PM »
Hi again people! First off, thanks so much for the helping me make a decision concerning the Blueberry and Cranberry Buzzsaws. I figured I'd be going with the Blueberry anyway, but just wanted to make sure first.

I need opinions on one more topic. For drier lane conditions, do you recommend the Silver Diamond or would you prefer the XXL. I understnad that both are for drier conditions and that there would be enough of a gap from the Blueberry to use under these conditions. I plan to use the original coverstock polish if that helps at all. I'm not sure how I'll get everthing drilled, but I do know I want it to be the same for each ball.

One thing that's bothering me is this new ball Mr. Clump plans to showcase soon. I hope It's nothing I WANT and NEED when I start my arsenal. I really like what I'm creating now (BCB, BB C/2, SD C/2, and XXXL), but if this new ball fit's really well into my gameplan.... Well, I'll worry about blowing up that bridge when I get to it. Once again people, thanks a plenty in advance.

Neither of your choices are truth DRY lane balls. The Silver diamond for me was way too strong even on light oil. The XXL is a good light to Medium light ball. So if you need a ball for light oil, go with the XXL. I really liked the way it moved and hit. I hope this helps.

I second that choice, my friend has a XXL and said it's a little too strong for dry lanes.  He said it works great on lighter mediums to lighter oils, but overall is kind of similar to the Siver Diamond.

Pin_Krusher IS a serious threat to modern day bowling wood as we know it today.

I currently own the XXL and for me it's a great Med to Med-Dry ball (high speed / high revs).  I found out last Fridy that it's definately not a true dry lane ball (or toast).  By the end of the 3rd game I was so far left that I was lofting over the left gutter and over the 5th arrow with a lot more speed than I normally throw and was still having trouble keeping it in pocket.  I sure could have used the XXXL. I owned the Silver last year and would say that XXL gets down the lane a little further and has just as much backend.  They seem pretty similar to me.
