Silver Diamond replacement ?
« on: November 29, 2006, 09:54:45 PM »
Im looking for a replacement for my Silver Diamond.

It is extremly battered but is still working awesome but now serious cracks are appearing all around the fingers. So I will soon be looking for a replacement.

Any ideas as to what is close to it in the current line up or should I just keep looking for a second hand one which is going to be tough in the UK.

I have it drilled label leverage, no weighthole if you need to know. The rest of my specs are in my profile.

Thanks in advance.

Drill and plug the fingers right now and stop the cracking and possibly resurface your current Silver Diamond and you may not have to replace it. Nothing in the currewnt lineup rolls like the Silver Diamond in my opinion. Just my opinion. Good Luck.

No not really looking to get rid of it but I have had 2 major chunks out of it and have plugged them. Then Ive had to have it resurfaced near to losing the serial number.
Thats the reason why it needs replacing.
Mind you I could always do the Dremmel trick and re-ingrave the numbers.

Charles I thought like you that this ball was a bit special compared to the other Lane#1 balls.

Don't need no stinking serial numbers.....just plug, resurface, and redrill the holes.

You're right, Charles, except when you enter tournaments that requires it.Tournament officials want to make sure that the ball you use to qualify with is the same ball that they have tested.

Other than that, no biggie . . .

Yeah sorry, I need the numbers, pretty strict for some of the tournaments I play in.
Its the UK, you know how some can be over here

To answer your question, there was a previous post here that which stated that the Silver Diamond's specs closely resembles the HRG specs . . . so there you go . . .

That was mine. Only the core specs are similar. Most everything else is different. Most people using or trying both seemed to agree that they're different balls.

Thats why I asked as most people said it wasnt a good comparison.

Im thinking about what Charles said and just keep the ball for home league where they dont need the numbers.
I'll have to find something else from a different manufacturer for tournaments.
